Octabong Means Beer Fun for Eight

Yes, you read right. An eight sided beer bong. Eight beer drinkers can race to see who wins - and each drink their own brew.

Hailed as the invention of the decade by, ah, Us, it’s the Octabong. Revolutionizing the beer bong industry, this exclusive bong features eight - that’s right, eight - compartments for a truly communal drinking experience. One-inch diameter flexible PVC tubes allow eight drinkers to throw back their favorite beer in the race champions. The college dorms (and boardrooms throughout Silicon Valley) will never be the same.

Carry Your Cel Phone Around on a Hot Dog

Attaching baked-goods to your cel phone guarantees you’ll never lose it again - or go hungry.

The Japanese have long been known as innovators. As proof, look no further than this cel phone accessory. Now you too make sure you never misplace your phone by getting a strap that looks like a hot dog in a, ah, bun? What is that? Strapya-World.com has a complete line of baked-good inspired cel phone straps. It sounds like a ridiculous joke, but like we said - innovators. You can also choose from the brick oven pizza or hamburger straps.

Jetman Uses His Body as Flight Controls

Strap a wing to your back with four small jet engine and your Jet-Man! For real.

I know this clip is old, but I stumbled on it and it was too cool to pass up posting. This dude, Yves Rossy, created a wing he could wear on his back and strapped four small jet engines to it. I know the result sounds like something you’d see in the turn of the century silent films where the dude takes a header off a pier, but oh no. This guy actually flies. A real like jet-man. He uses only his body movements and position to steer himself. At first the clip sort of looks like a controlled free fall, but keep watching. The jet engines offer lift and he’s able to control where he’s going. Pretty damn cool.

Portable Speaker Backpack

It’s a backpack. No, it’s a speaker. No, it’s both. Be the life of the party when you walk up with one of these.

Design student Joonas Saaranen has created a backpack that is actually a speaker system. The hardshell pack contains both speakers and an amplifier for on the road use. (And I’m assuming a metric ton of batteries as well?). Pretty cool concept though I’m not sure I’d walk my streets rocking one. But bonus points for designing it to look like it came right off the back of a Stormtrooper. Just wonder, is there storage built in for an iPod? Or a six pack?

HTC Touch Diamond is Latest iPhone Challenger

The next iPhone challenger is stepping up to bat. Is HTC’s Touch Diamond up to the task?

Maybe the best thing to come from the launch of the iPhone less than a year ago is not the iPhone itself, but the pressure it has put on other mobile phone companies to actually deliver better phones. HTC thinks it has the next challenger to the iPhone in the Touch Diamond.

Samsung Instinct may be the New 3G iPhone Killer

With rumors running rampant that a new 3G iPhone is eminent, Samsung has quietly released what they believe is an iPhone killer.

Samsung 3G EV-DO

With rumors running rampant that a new 3G iPhone is eminent, Samsung has quietly released what they believe is an iPhone killer. There have been others before, but the new Samsung 3G Instinct has the most promise of the bunch. Running on Sprint’s 3G “EV-DO Rev. A” data network the Instinct looks a lot like the iPhone, but has 3G, a replaceable battery, and haptic feedback for the touchscreen. The Instinct is due to be released in June and by that time there is no telling what form or features will grace the iPhone, but it’s good to see some competition that might actually be competition.

Phone Fingers - The Creepy Way to Keep your iPhone Screen Clean

Keep your iPhone clean and scare young kids with Phone Fingers

Phone Fingers for Using your iPhone

A new accessory for iPhone users promises clean smudge free screens. The only drawback, you look like a freak wearing them. Phone Fingers cover, well, just that, your ‘phone fingers’ so that you don’t dirty up that shiny glass iPhone or iTouch screen with your grimy finger tips. They are apparently made of latex, so they’re essentially like little black condoms for your digits. I’m baffled and bewildered on every front. Is latex going to slide naturally across the glass iPhone screen? Who in the hell would stop and put these things on before using their iPhone? And what do you tell the parents of the children who run screaming in horror when you wave at them with your bizzaro phone hand? Couple more picts after the jump.

Man Grows Back Finger

Man regrows finger that was accidentally cut off in model plane propeller. The man used a regenerative powder given to him by his brother, a research scientist.

Man regrows finger that was accidentally cut off in model plane propeller. The man used a regenerative powder given to him by his brother, a research scientist.

That powder is a substance made from pig bladders called extracellular matrix. It is a mix of protein and connective tissue surgeons often use to repair tendons and it holds some of the secrets behind the emerging new science of regenerative medicine.

“It tells the body, start that process of tissue regrowth,” said Badylak.

Badlayk is one of the many scientists who now believe every tissue in the body has cells which are capable of regeneration. All scientists have to do is find enough of those cells and “direct” them to grow.

“Somehow the matrix summons the cells and tell them what to do,” Badylak explained. “It helps instruct them in terms of where they need to go, how they need to differentiate - should I become a blood vessel, a nerve, a muscle cell or whatever.”
