Logitech Z-500 Wireless Notebook Speakers

Live the wireless life with the Logitech Z-500 Wireless Notebook Speakers that have just been announced. This new pair of speakers will rely on high-performance wireless technology that delivers balanced audio from its acoustic drivers without running the risk of having anyone trip due to long, messy wires that have long been a bane. The Z-500 is a snap to install - just connect the speakers to your computer along with the wireless USB dongle and you’re good to go. Each $199.99 purchase comes with a rechargeable battery that is good for up to a dozen hours of non-stop playback time before requiring a trip to the nearest power outlet. Those residing in Europe and the US will receive the Logitech Z-500 Wireless Notebook Speakers at the same time - beginning from next month, that is. [Press Release]

Ferry Your Kids By The Meter

Ferry Your Kids By The Meter

Many kids nowadays are getting used to being chauffeured by their parents all over town, so maybe it’s time for some of those kids to “pay” for their trips. Gizoo is currently selling “Dad’s Cab” for $18, which allows you to put this fake taxi meter on your dashboard via a set of adhesive strips. While it doesn’t charge your kids money (they’d ask you for the money anyways), it does ask for unique methods of payment such as tidying their room, or making a cup of tea for the driver. Harmless fun and it might even teach some kids to appreciate the things that parents do for them. Expect it to mysteriously disappear from your dashboard if you start “charging” your kids too often though.

USB Monster Hub

USB Monster Hub

If you want to keep some annoying kid away from your computer, you could always try and build a DIY USB monster hub, like the creator of the USB hub in the picture. This “monster” is basically a USB hub with some tape and cloth jumbled with some (rather cool looking) red LED lights as eyes. If you’re into monsters, you welcome to try building one of your own.

Photoshop Mobile

Photoshop Mobile

If you were to tell me 10 years ago that cell phones will one day be powerful enough to run Photoshop, I would think that the resident looney house is missing an inmate. Fast forward a decade and you have Photoshop Mobile - although the name is pretty misleading since it doesn’t allow any photo editing, but is actually an online storage service. Photoshop Mobile brings 5GB of free storage space to anyone with a Photoshop.com account ID. Folks who fall under the Photoshop Plus category will get four times that amount. Currently, compatible phones include Motorola Q9m/h, Samsung Blackjack I/II, and Palm Treo 750w/700w/wx. Support for other handsets (such as the iPhone, Pearl and RAZR) will come next month. I guess this is great for folks who snap plenty of images on their cell phones and are too lazy to transfer it over to a computer.

iPhone Projector

iPhone Projector

If you spend an equal amount of time on your iPhone watching movies as well as talking, it would make perfect sense to consider the iPhone Projector. After all, this device helps project a video image of the movie on a nearby surface, giving your eyes some much needed relief instead of staring at such a small display for hours on end. Some of the features found on the iPhone Projector include :-

LCoS projector4:3 aspect ratioManual focus20,000 hour lamp life10-15 lumens brightness200:1 contrast ratioVGA resolution15″ to37″ screen size2W stereo speakerComposite Video

How much are you willing to pay for something like this?

Sony 8-inch DPF-D100 Digital Photo Frame

Sony 8-inch DPF-D100 Digital Photo Frame

Sony Europe has rolled out a couple of digital photo frames - the 8″ DPF-D80 and the 10.2″ DPF-D100. Both of these digital photo frames will feature the following specifications :-

SVGA panel at 800 x 600 resolution4:3 formatAuto-correcting landscape/portrait displaySupports MS, MS Duo, SD, CF and xD memory cards256MB internal memory

Guess the only different feature between the DPF-D80 and the DPF-D100 is the display area. As usual, the larger model will be more expensive. Both of them will roll out this October, and I would’ve liked to see USB and Wi-Fi connectivity thrown into the fray as well.

Virtual Mirror

Virtual Mirror

This will probably be marketed like some kind of “magic mirror on the wall”, as the Virtual Mirror looks like it’s trying to help you decide which clothes you look good in quickly, by displaying an image of you wearing the clothes you like without you having to try them out one by one, and you won’t even have to remove the clothes on your back first. Of course, not having to queue up in front of the changing room probably takes away some of the fun in shopping for clothes, but this virtual mirror still looks very cool. The technology isn’t perfect yet, as it still finds it a little difficult to create a realistic impression of the clothes in the virtual mirror, but it’s a step in the right direction. It isn’t too hard to imagine Star Wars fans trying on clone trooper armor with this in the future.

NVIDIA Quad SLI to appear

NVIDIA Quad SLI to appear

It’s been reported that NVIDIA will let a Quad-SLI configuration appear. That’s good news for fanatic gamers obviously. I feel like someone is going to have to get a new case, mobo and may be a power-supply too. Quad-SLI should work with different combinations of 16x PCIe and 8x PCIe, but the fastest configuration could involve two nForce 200 chips. In theory, NVIDIA could support N-GPUs and SLI is mainly limited by the space and power requirements. Once space runs out, the option that’s left is the external PCIe box :)
