The GP2X is not quite dead, as it has just been announced officially. This will be a pretty niche device, featuring a built-in Flash Player (compatible with Flash 7.0) that is meant for simple commercial games. Features of the GP2X include :-
OLED touch screen displayARM9 533MHz processor64MB RAM3D accelerator
The GP2X will ship in the middle of October onwards, and I don’t see it threatening the PSP or DS anytime soon due to the rather limited hardware. Will developers flock to come up with entertaining gaming titles for the GP2X? Only time will tell.

If all fire extinguishers were to look like the Shooter, I think the number of pyromaniacs in the city will rise exponentially, just for the sake of unleashing this uber-cool fire extinguisher on a raging flame. Shaped after a light-weight gun design, the Shooter comes loaded with CO2 cartridges with a laser guidance system to help you hit the target in the event of a heated emergency. An alarm button is available for you to alert everybody else before you let go one of those CO2 cartridges, and I suspect this concept won’t need a fire in the first place for a curious finger to pull the trigger.

There are more and more tools to lets you spam send stuff to your “friends” on social networks. JuiceCaster is now available on Blackberry Curve as a beta - if “beta” still means something these days. Among the known services that JuiceCaster can connect to: Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, Blogger, Photobucket. Note that the Curve is the only model that is supported for now. The Blackberry Pearl should be next.

Nokia’s N96 handset will be heading towards North America in due time, which is good news for those who have been looking out for this high-end smartphone. No longer will you need to import a unit if you want one. Check out the N96 specifications below and drool.
2.8″ LCD display16GB internal memory (hello, iPhone!)5 megapixel cameraWi-Fi connectivityN-Gage support3G connectivity
It is different from the European version as it lacks an integrated digital TV tuner since the DVB-H standard has yet to be adopted in North America. Our friends living across the pond have splashed out 550 Euros for this, so expect $900 to be the cheapest list price for this handset as it rolls out in Q4.

Asustek’s new B50A business notebook is able to last for more than five hours on the road without the need to be plugged in, although that would mean conserving battery power at every turn while you work (i.e. display at the dimmest level). It will be powered by a range of Intel’s Centrino 2 processor, featuring a spill-resistant keyboard, an integrated LED keyboard light for easy operation under low-light or dark conditions, a built-in fingerprint scanner for biometric security purposes, and a Trusted Platform Module. No idea on pricing for the B50A.

There is nothing quite like having good music accompany fine wine for a perfect evening with your dining companion(s), so why not take that idea a step further with these Wine Glass Speakers? Not only do the speakers resemble ordinary wine glasses, the digital amplifier itself looks like a wine vat. An LED light adds some much needed pizzazz to the “drink”. You won’t bring down the house with the wine vat digital amplifier that has a rated output of 4W × 2ch, but it ought to be enough to fill up a small room with sound. The formal name would be the Mini Clear Sound System DT-SA101, and sadly this is available only in Japan, retailing for approximately $240 after conversion.

I’m pretty amazed that the Tatung VoIP handset, winner of the 2008 IF, IDEA and Red Dot awards has not yet moved from the conceptual stage to production. With a handset as sexy as this, you are bound to see many more people jumping onto the VoIP bandwagon if only just to be seen chatting away on one. The casing of the Tatung VoIP can be customized, and the antenna is fake albeit included to add a touch of nostalgia. There is so far not a single VoIP phone as good looking as the Tatung VoIP, so will a hardware manufacturer do the right thing and adopt this design as soon as possible?
