Acer has dropped the Aspire One price today, touching an even more affordable $329 from the original $379 price point. This new pricing structure makes the Aspire One as one of the cheapest netbooks that is powered by Intel’s new Atom 1.6GHz processor. The higher-end models have also seen a similar $50 cut in pricing, touching $349 from $399. Acer will also roll out a new 160GB model with a 6-cell battery at the previous $399 price point. I must say that $329 places the Aspire One under the impulse purchase territory, and at this point in time, it looks like the best bang-for-your-buck combo unless the other manufacturers take a similar aggresive approach.

I have seen parts of this demo before, but in a poor-quality web video (recorded from a wall projector), so we obtained the direct-feed video from AMD and uploaded it to Blip. Some people told me that the background was video footage, but I’m pretty sure that it isn’t. If you want to check all the details (720p movie) head to our blip.tv page - interesting stuff! Do you still like the Ruby character? After looking at it, are you sold?

You really can’t fault Shuttle for polluting the environment needlessly with their latest effort - the X27. This new PC will consume just 23 watts of juice in idle mode and 36 watts when in use, making it fall under laptop territory instead of a standard desktop. The X27 computer will fit in comfortably under the nettop category as it is powered by Intel’s Atom processor. It will amble along at a mere 23 decibels, so you won’t have any trouble going to bed with the X27 running in your bedroom at night. There is no word on pricing, but it will arrive on North American shores this September along with a future release in the UK.

Surfing apparel company Quiksilver has come up with a new watch known as The Ray. This timepiece will go back many years, being an analog device although boasting a 27-jewel movement. I must say the unusual display will definitely attract the attention of many people, and The Ray certainly has a minimal carbon footprint on our environment. It will be shipped in eco-friendly packaging, and will be shipped via sea instead of air to reduce CO2 emissions. There will only be 1,000 of these available throughout the world, so be prepared to fork out a premium if you want one. I’d be careful wearing this outside though, since it might be pretty hard to get a replacement if this one goes.

Jukka Roitto has a concept device called Seek, which will make navigating through unfamiliar areas much easier. Said device will be strapped on your wrist just like a normal watch, and will also be able to double up as a music player, while doing its day job of using GPS to tell you how to get from point A to point B, and also guide you to nearby theatres, pubs and shops. To think we used to rely on the compass back then.

Innovation is a beautiful thing, and it has gifted us with many lovely devices over the years. This time though, it looks like somebody misunderstood what innovation meant. This weird looking mouse is called the Computer-Mouse Star, and with its star shaped design, it sure isn’t going to win any ergonomics competition. If you’re really into stars, then this would probably pique your interest, if not, it’s highly doubtful that most people would buy this, especially since it’s going for about $44.

Going green is the popular thing to do nowadays, and bus stops in Miami look like they’ll be getting the green treatment too. About 600 bus stops there will be fitted with solar-powered shelters, which will provide enough power to display the hosted ads at the bus stops. By doing so, the shelters will reduce CO2 emissions by about 2 tons each year.

Here’s an earphone design that you don’t see every day. Looking very much like a question mark, the design also serves a very practical purpose. Aside from fitting nicely in your ear, the hook design will allow the earphones to hook on to each other behind your neck when not in use. To top things off, it also looks great. Hopefully this one makes it beyond the concept phase.

If you want a USB desk fan and also a USB hub at the same time, this USB fan hub might just be of interest to you. While combining a USB hub and a USB-powered fan might not have any added benefit, aside from the convenience of having 2 devices in one, it does save a little space on your desk. $14.99 for a little more space on your desk, that doesn’t sound too expensive, does it?
