BlackBerry 8220 and 8210 Leaked

BlackBerry 8220 and 8210 Leaked

Online retailer Expansys has made a boo-boo - or rather, two of them, by leaking out information of the upcoming BlackBerry 8220 and 8210 smartphones. Also known as KickStart and SeaWolf respectively, these handsets made a brief appearance on a pre-order page while showing off handset specifications that include the following :-

20-key SureType keyboardBluetooth 2.0 connectivity3.5mm headphones jackmicroSD memory card slot

The 8210 will feature GPS navigation but not Wi-Fi, and the 8220 will be a quad-band GSM (850/900/1800/1900MHz) handset. No idea on pricing or availability as at press time, but both ought to be due this year.

Ölens Technology XPJ Projector

Ölens Technology XPJ Projector

Not all projectors are expensive, as Ölens Technology released its XPJ Personal Entertainment Projector that are meant for personal and casual use. It won’t do High Definition, so forget about hooking up your PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 to this. What it does are the most basic of functions, targeting standard definition applications like Wii gaming and presentations. The XPJ is able to throw an image 70″ in size at 640 x 480 resolution thanks to its 270W lamp. Each $279 purchase comes with a spare lamp, VGA input, composite video, audio inputs and an S-video port. In addition, you’ll also get a pair of stereo speakers integrated within although I don’t think you’ll be using those in a presentation (that’d be pretty weak). Good thing there is the option to hook this up to a decent home theater surround sound system.

Gaming Peripherals Are Cross-Compatible

Gaming Peripherals Are Cross-Compatible

At long last, these peripheral makers are starting to make sense - all instruments for Rock Band 2, Guitar Hero: World Tour and Rock Revolution will be “cross-compatible” with the Xbox 360 according to an announcement from Microsoft’s Gamerscore Blog. This announcement follows Sony’s words yesterday that the PlayStation 3 will also benefit from full cross-compatibility among the three mentioned games. Well Nintendo? The rest of the world is waiting…

Xbox Live App For iPhone To Be Free

Xbox Live App For iPhone To Be Free

Microsoft has laid down the rules - those who want to develop Xbox Live applications for the iPhone must give it away for FREE. Hopefully this doesn’t mean folks who “purchase” Xbox Live applications will end up with shovelware that have limited functionality. It still remains within the realm of possibility that this could lead to the announcement of an official Live Anywhere iPhone application and a brand new Zune, of course. Guess we’ll just have to be patient and see how everything works out in due time.

Freecom Mobile Drive XXS

Freecom Mobile Drive XXS

Freecom’s Mobile Drive XXS says it all - this is touted to be the smallest and lightest 2.5″ USB drive that’s currently available to the masses. Inside you will find a slightly modified Samsung 2.5″ laptop hard drive, where the SATA connector was taken out in favor of a mini USB connector and placed within the injection-moulded rubber sleeve. Depending on your needs, you can pick up the Freecom Mobile Drive XXS in 160GB, 250GB and 320GB capacities that retail for £45, £60 and £80, respectively. Sounds like a convenient way for you to carry your data wherever you go without adding even more weight on your shoulders.

Panasonic Tablet at IDF

Panasonic Tablet at IDF

Check out this interesting looking Panasonic tablet that is currently on display at IDF. I like the way the handle curves at the top, allowing you to carry it around just like a briefcase, although ample protection is necessary to prevent the screen from experiencing unwanted knocks and scratches. No word on specifications yet, but as you can tell, this will primarily cater for the medical and healthcare demographic. Expect a launch not too far from the future.

Live Archos 5 photos shows device and user interface

Our French buddies from generationmp3 have access to a unit of the just-announced Archos 5, a connected (3.5G, WIFI) internet tablet. Their photo gallery shows the device under many angles and most importantly it shows how the touch-interface looks like. Don’t forget that there’s a larger 7″ model too: the Archos 7.
