Atrua announced that Lenovo has selected their fingerprint reading solution for the Lenovo P960 phone. While this is Lenovo’s first phone with a fingerprint reader, the idea is not really new. Japanese phones had them a while ago, even if Atrua’s design seem smaller than previous models. I dislike the fingerprint reader on my Vaio SZ laptop, so I’m not sure that I would want one on my phone. Would you?

Sony has a brand new SxS Card that comes with 32GB of storage space, allowing you another option to store all your favorite digital memories. This SxS Pro memory card is able to transfer data at incredible speeds of up to 800Mbps, but that speed comes at a price of $1,500. 32GB is able to store approximately 100 minutes’ worth of full High Definition video and is able to withstand a wide range of abuse and shock, although that doesn’t mean you should take things for granted and drive your car over it in a stress test.

Just when you thought that you’ve seen virtually all USB hubs, along comes the Asterisk from designer Joel Escalona. Also known as the “Asterico Hub”, this offers one male and four female USB connections, ensuring you won’t run into problems like not being able to make use of all individual hubs since due to other USB connectors that are way too fat for their own good. Of course, this isn’t the first solution to circumvent the mentioned problem, and I don’t think it will be the last. It does take up more desk space than usual though, so you might want to take note of that.

The Zivio Boom Bluetooth 2.1+EDR headset weighs a mere 13 grams, so unless your ear is really weak, it ought to be able to make you forget that it is there in the first place. What makes this Bluetooth headset stand out? Certainly not the design as it isn’t exactly inspiring, but it does boast a talk time of 10 hours and a 300 hour standby time. What makes this special compared to the rest would be the extending boom that can be expanded to 137mm from 53.5mm when the situation calls for it, being placed right in front of your gab so that there is no need to shout. How much for this luxury? $130, so says the price tag.

This has been in the works for weeks: Alienware has just announced that customers can now opt for the AMD 4870 X2 graphics card in Alienware’s Area-51, Area-51 ALX and Aurora desktop PCs. If you missed it, AMD just claimed the graphics performance crown yesterday, and computer vendors are more than happy to help: they can sell a high-performance product that could even boost their margins a bit and at the same time, they put pressure on NVIDIA add-in board partners to get better pricing. There’s nothing like vendor balancing… and consumers win.

The DataCase application for the iPhone was just launched, helping turn your iPhone into an impromptu wireless storage device for just $6.99.
A one way drop box can be added to a normal machine to drop files onto the iPhone, or alternatively you can set up a two-way shared drive to move files between the iPhone and a computer. I’ve been testing it and it works, for the most part (I’m having trouble re-connecting after closing it down and re-opening). Definitely worth the $7. Any business user will want to download this immediately. One cool feature that I wasn’t able to test - DataCase says it can stream video from the iPhone to a computer.
Are you going to download this and give it a shot?

Folks in Korea have it good as they seem to get most of the latest products first, and the Samsung YA-SBR510 5.1 wireless speaker is yet another one of them. Make sure you own a portable media player or MP3 player with Bluetooth connectivity (works with most modern cell phones, too) if you’re interested in continue to live an untethered life. Well, even if you don’t there is always the regular audio cable to the rescue. This 5.1 wireless speaker will retail for 150€, but it will probably cost a premium if you plan to import one.

Apoll has released a Tabletop Fireplace despite it being the summer at this point of time. Ah well, I guess there is no harm in being prepared, and this device from Apoll certainly takes the cake if you’re too selfish to share your warmth with other people. This portable fireplace costs a pretty $675, but that’s much better than losing a couple of your digits to frostbite in the long run. It will come with Sterno-like fuel, encased in a glass and steel frame that dissipates warmth perfectly - for one. The cheaper alternative would of course be to get a thicker pair of gloves.

It seems that the rumored Android handset that is up for pre-order this September 17th is none other than the HTC Dream, and it will be available from T-Mobile at a special promotional pre-sale event. Current T-Mobile subscribers are said to be able to pick this up for $150 a pop, although the figure could balloon to $399 when it is made available to the general public at a later period. The handset itself is reported to be code-named G1 and will come with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, 3G connectivity, a 3 megapixel camera and a generous 5″ x 3″ touch screen display.
