Bend Mobile Concept

Bend Mobile Concept

Designer Any Kurovets certainly has a different take on life, conjuring his Bend Mobile concept. This device looks really large compared to the slim mantra that we’re experiencing with current gadgets, but who are we to judge? After all, cell phones did use to shrink to miniscule sizes before color displays came along, and then they started growing back in size again. The Bend Mobile comes with a pretty sharp digital camera (of unknown megapixel count, but go crazy with your speculation since this is a concept), and will slide open to unveil double the viewing area. Would this be released? Probably never.

Samsung S7330 GT Series

Samsung S7330 GT Series

Samsung has added another Soul-like handset to its collection - the Samsung S7330. This time round, the handset appears to target the budget conscious, and people who aren’t too well versed with the latest phones might actually mistake this for the high end Soul U900 instead. Nevertheless, here are the specifications for your perusal :-

Quad band GSM (850/900/1800/1900 MHz), UMTS (2100 MHz)GPRS, EDGE, HSDPA (up to 3.6 Mbps) connectivity 2.2? 16 million colors, QVGA 320×240 pixel LCD display Interactive “Magical Touch” DaCP secondary display/touchpad (256 colors) 3.2 megapixel camera with LED flash autofocus and face recognition CIF front camera for video calls Integrated FM Radio with RDS MPEG4 media player Bluetooth 2.0 +EDR, USB 2.0 connectivity

It ought to retail for approximately $500 when it hits the market next month, unlocked. Half a grand isn’t really all that “budget”, ain’t it?

Asustek Launches Eee Storage

Asustek Launches Eee Storage

The Eee moniker has clearly been watered down to so many branches, things get even more confusing for the consumer. This time round, Asustek has announced Eee Storage - a 20GB Internet hard drive service for folks who don’t want to store sensitive information on them be it at home or at the office. As for Eee Download, this is said to offer Eee PC users more features. I presume this is some sort of “membership club” that offers newfangled features - after all, nothing comes free in this world. Eee Download currently houses approximately 3,000 free software and game titles that are fully compatible with the Eee PC range. It would be interesting to know just how many software titles on Eee Download are actually top notch versions compared to the veritable amount of riff-raff.

Hana Portable Entertainment TV Device

Hana Portable Entertainment TV Device

This is one of the stranger looking portable media players (PMPs), known as the Hana Portable Entertainment TV. What makes this different from other PMPs would be its ability to offer karaoke support, letting you sing your heart out with the music video shown on the screen, lyrics and all. Other features of this Korea-only player include :-

Video player at 720 x 480 resolutionMP3 playbackE-book supportIntegrated FM radioVoice recording capability

No idea on how much this will cost though, but I must say this resembles an iPod turned sideways.

Nissan Develops New Sensors For Cars

Nissan Develops New Sensors For Cars

Nissan has just previewed a new sensor technology that will go one step further than the usual beeps and noises. These sensors that will be placed in the driver’s blind spots will (try to) deter users from doing something dangerous via methods such as using a “break-resistance” device which will cause the breaks to vibrate slightly to warn the user. Of course the driver can override the car’s advice if they want, though it’ll be interesting to find out if such “advice” would cause distraction to the driver, something about too many cooks spoil the broth…

Etymotic Hf2 Earphones

Etymotic Hf2 Earphones

Etymotic is currently offering their hf2 handsfree headset, which provides sound quality like their ER-4P earphones, with the added microphone. Aside from that, the hf2 features fairly common functions such as auto muting and pausing a song when a call comes in and resuming playback after the call has ended and of course noise cancellation technology. It won’t come cheap though, as it’s going for £99.95.

Monster Segway To Crush Them All

Modifications of existing items never cease to impress people, and this latest Segway mod turns the humble Segway into a monstrous 6-wheel version. Though to be honest, there wouldn’t be much practical reason to have such a wide Segway, since the Segway was designed for lightweight travel. Having said that, if it makes the owner happy, then it’s probably doing the right thing.

Bedol Water Powered Clock

Bedol Water Powered Clock

Everybody seems to be going green these days, be it computer motherboards, or general consumer products. This time Bedol has come up with a Water-Powered Clock, which is obviously powered by water. Instead of wasting electricity or batteries, this clock will happily run on water, with a dash of salt. This looks like a cool and innovative device, and at the same time aims to protect our environment, perfect as a gift during the next office Christmas party.Wonder whether the water is included when you buy it though.
