Philips Power4Life Pack

Philips Power4Life Pack

If your laptop’s battery life just doesn’t quite make the cut when it comes to superior battery life, then Philips has just the item to deal with such emergencies. The Power4Life packs include the SCM7880 USB adapter that helps you juice up various USB devices without the need for specific wires and cables, since you plug in your device directly and start charging. Heck, you are even supplied with various adapters just in case you are away from your home country. As for the SCE7640, this model is a compact power pack for your laptop that offers another 60 hours of juice - I’m fairly skeptical of that figure, perhaps 60 hours of idle time would be more like it. Again, it comes with all sorts of adapters so that no elitist can claim superiority over the others.

Samsung MediaLive Add-on

Samsung MediaLive Add-on

Samsung has unveiled its MediaLive add-on that works only with Samsung TV sets manufactured in 2008, and those must come with CEC automation support as well. What makes the MediaLive peripheral so special? Well, it does away with the need for a media hub (ala Apple TV or Roku Netflix Player), offering direct access to movies from MovieLink and Vongo, in addition to content from Fox Sports and Showtime TV. Streaming Internet radio stations from XM are also part of the deal with the MediaLive. It doubles up as a media extender for Windows Vista’s Media Center and is compatible with H.264, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, and WMV videos at up to 1080p, not to mention Dolby AC3 surround sound. You can choose to have it connect via Ethernet or an internal 802.11n Wi-Fi receiver. MediaLive will ship next month for $200 a pop.

Acrylic Cowboy Computer Case

Acrylic Cowboy Computer Case

Digital Cowboy from Japan has unleashed its Acrylic Cowboy computer case range that does away with exterior case walls, which is a two-edged sword IMHO. It leaves your computer innards open to all sorts of mishaps (and a whole lot of dust attack) but will definitely run much cooler compared to a traditional PC case. There are various styles to choose from, ranging from the minimal orange platform design of the ACPC3 to the hot pink ACPCD and smoke grey/black ACPC4. All of these models are compatible with ATX or Micro ATX logic boards and come with the necessary bays to mount hard drives as well as other optical drives without much hassle. These Japan-only Acrylic Cowboy cases will retail for $37 all the way to $101, depending on the model chosen. That’s really cool for test labs. Back in the days, we had to build these ourselves!

Mini Microwave Not Entirely Useless

Mini Microwave Not Entirely Useless

The Mini Microwave here is definitely cute to look at (most miniaturized items and living things are cute to begin with anyways) and does have it’s niche, be it at home or at the office. The $130 price tag is just insane since you can get a full-sized one at the same price, but being the really private person that you are, would you really want to share your microwave with the rest of the office people or your dorm mates? After all, you never know what they put inside the microwave, but you have full control over yours.

BlackBerry Kickstart gets early review

The review courtesy of CrackBerry reveal new information on the BlackBerry Kickstart, for one, the device will be split into several models depending on features that are present. The 8820 in their review is a WiFi-version destined for T-Mobile while the 8810, a GPS-version will probably end up at AT&T. The 2-megapixel camera, full 3.5mm headphone jack, and externally reachable microSD card slot are now known to be part of the design. The new BlackBerry OS is still in the early stages of testing at the site but is said to work effectively with the tall LCD, as well as on the smaller external display. The launch date of the Kickstart has not confirmed but rumor has it that September will be the month for both T-Mobile USA and Rogers in Canada. Read their review.

Vizio shows low-cost wireless sound bar and sub-woofer

Vizio, the low cost flat-panel HDTV maker will be entering home audio market with its simulated surround sound sytem compromised of a slim speaker and a wireless subwoofer. It is yet unknown if Vizio’s single speaker will be surround sound capable (like the Yamaha Sound Projector). The Vizio sound system is due for a September release, with pricing expected to be set at $299 a pop. If someone tests it or sees a good review, please add a comment – we want to know if this sound bar is all-look and no sound or if it has good audio qualities.

Ymup Backpack Generates Oxygen

Ymup Backpack Generates Oxygen

What you see on the right is just for illustrative purposes and is not the real thing, but Ymup from Japan has managed to come up with a backpack that contains a battery-powered oxygen generator. This portable device even comes with a remote control and is touted to be the first of its kind in the world. As most people are aware, the higher you climb, the thinner air gets and that’s exactly where this oxygen generator comes in, making it perfect for forlks who love mountain trekking and hiking. The oxygen comes with 30% concentration and is inhaled via a nozzle, while the battery lasts up to 2 hours. Would be nice to see a solar panel attached to this thing to keep the battery going. Ymup has plans to release this backpack in three differet models at the end of this month, with a price range that falls between $880 and $1,150.

GF-W168 Cell Phone

GF-W168 Cell Phone

Here’s a handset that has a totally hilarious advertising pitch - in the specifications list, “Amazing Keyboard” is listed down. I wonder what’s less amazing about keyboards found on other smartphones, but if you’re interested to know what else the GF-W168 holds, read on below.

What makes the keyboard so amazing again? Apparently, it is placed on a thin piece of material and has a faint blue color that lights up to give that disco look.
