Coby has new HD Radios

Coby has new HD Radios

Video isn’t the only thing that has gone High Definition, but radio as well. Coby takes note of this trend by releasing a couple of HD radios for a much more pleasant audio experience compared to your everyday FM transmissions. The HDR-650 is the cheaper of the two, which means you will get less features for $100. It consists of the HDR-650 component radio, standard RCA connectors and a headphone jack. For $50 more, you will be able to snag yourself the $150 HDR-700 standalone unit that comes complete with an integrated rechargeable battery, an SD memory card slot and a line-in jack. Both the HDR-650 and HDR-700 will arrive at retail stores sometime this August.

Panasonic SDHC in new Capacities

Panasonic SDHC in new Capacities

I guess we’ve been indoctrinated long enough with the idea that memory cards should come in double the quantity always, hence these new SDHC cards from Panasonic defy convention by being available in 6GB and 12GB storage capacities - something different since we don’t have 3GB SDHC cards to begin with. Available in Class 4 specification, these are meant for use with High Definition camcorders, capable of recording anywhere from 90 minutes (6GB) up to 180 minutes (12GB) of 1,920 x 1,080 full HD content without missing a beat. Of course, selecting a lower recording resolution would mean you are able to record for longer periods of time. No idea on pricing as at press time though.

It will be powered by the Venus Engine IV, a “high-speed, high-performance, next-generation image processing system” that any decent digital camera should tout these days. Some of the features include a new multi-exposure function which is able to superimpose up to three consecutively shot images, an improved white balance function, AF tracking function, increased face detection accuracy and a 2.7″ intelligent LCD display. There is no word on pricing yet but you will be able to choose from boring black and sleek silver colors when it is available.

DIY Timeless Watch

DIY Timeless Watch

If you have plenty of spare time and some recycled computer parts lying around, why not check out this DIY project known as the Timeless watch? The strap itself is made up of an ordinary cable, while a USB connector holds both ends of the strap together. Design-Brothers are the brainchild behind this idea, and with the USB connector, it can even be ooked up to the computer’s USB port whenever your watch runs low on juice. Other than the vastly different looks from a standard digital timepiece, everything else about the Timeless watch is pretty standard. It will remain as a prototype until someone decides to mass manufacture it. Hopefully the folks at Chinavasion are reading this…

Apple promises new products by year end - guess what

Apple promises new products by year end - guess what

Apple has just released record quarterly revenues, but the company had “one more thing” to announce: Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO promised that Apple will be out with new products by year end. The CEO said “We’re busy finishing several more wonderful new products to launch in the coming months”.

Also, Peter Oppenheimer, Apple’s Chief Financial Officer said that the company will be making a product transition that cuts back on its profit margins to help shut out rivals. The mystery transition will drop Apple’s gross margins from 34.8 percent to 31.5 percent in the July-September window in which the update takes place, ultimately setting at about 30 percent at the start of Apple’s fiscal 2009. There are no details on the product but as explained by Oppenheimer, cost will be the driving force. The new, unnamed product will continue to have “technologies and features that others can’t match,” according to the Oppenheimer.

So what do you think this could be? Mac Tablet? QWERTY iPhone? iTV? Post a comment.

Betsey Johnson Bow Watch

Betsey Johnson Bow Watch

If you want a way to turn away any potential dates, wearing the Betsey Johnson bow watch certainly ranks up there alongside bad breath, hairy armpits and a foul mouth. Shaped to resemble a black bow, there actually is a watch hidden right inside as you flip it open. This watch targets females as it also comes with a hidden mirror so that you will be able to perform any last minute make-up adjustments. Retailing for $75 a pop, this is not something I would recommend picking up - better save that money for something else that will make you look more appealing.
