3D Animation is a better method in teaching sign language

That’s according to Hitachi researcher, Hirohiko Sagawa and his cohorts see limitation in previous method used to teach sign language, among them include, textbooks, videotapes, and software. With this in mind, they have created a prototype mobile phone that displays the Japanese sign language movements. The viewing angles can be shifted as well as enlarged so that users may get a more well-rounded sense of what the gesture means. The prototype phone was shown off at Hitachi’s advanced technology fair in Tokyo yesterday.

A lot of people might not think there is a whole lot of ‘tech’ in clothing. That couldn’t be further from the truth. When it comes to design and construction of today’s athletic clothing there is a ton of ‘tech’ going on. This month’s issue of Fast Company features a great article on the rapid innovation process that Nike, Adidas, Speedo and others have gone through to prepare products for top Olympic athletes.

From shoes that only turn left to others that are assembled like a suspension bridge, the level on innovation is amazing. And the best thing is that these clothing innovations make their way to the consumer market within months, even weeks, of debuting at the Olympic games.

Real Back to the Future MCfly shoes on eBay

Nike’s release of the modern adaptation of the 2015 McFly Nike shoes called the ‘Hyperdunks’ which made an uproar amongst its fans had two responses. On one hand many fans saw that Nike was trying to use the cool factor of the movie to sell their Hyperdunks while on the other side, fans were outraged that the number of shoes available were limited. Recently, the real owner (we have not verified) and creator of the 2015 McFly shoes stepped forward to say that the shoes are real and they are for sale on eBay. You can also get some trivia details about the shoes in the seller’s page, like its alternate names of Slamball and Nike Mag came about.

Snap It Off Earplugs

Snap It Off Earplugs

Talk about an interesting concept - the Snap It Off earplugs is meant for a generation who has grown sick of loud music. Most of us must have had the experience of many crazy nights out at clubs, partying till the wee hours of the morning without giving proper attention to our ears, only to wake up with a constant ringing in them the next morning. With the Snap It Off earplugs, these are easy to carry in your wallet since they are stored in a credit card-sized housing. Would be cooler if the concept came with some sort of Bluetooth connectivity integrated, as it would then make for a highly desirable pair of wireless headphones as well.

Icare Motorcycle Concept

Icare Motorcycle Concept

For folks who’ve seen The Dark Knight already, don’t leave any spoilers in the comments section on how the Icare motorcycle concept resembles the Batpod in the latest Christian Bale outing. Designed by France-based Enzyme Design, this concept clearly oozes with a mean streak, powered by a six-cylinder 1.8 liter Honda engine which packs quite a wallop. There is no word on whether this will ever enter production, but it will definitely be a big hit with those who have extra dough to splash around then. After all, getting around on this will earn you way more brownie points with the ladies, right? Just keep your fingers crossed it doesn’t rain on that day.

USB Fidgets in Three Flavors

USB Fidgets in Three Flavors

Do you happen to have a bad habit of fidgeting around at your desk whenever you’re bored in the office? Well, instead of twirling pens and drumming your fingers on the table much to the annoyance of your cubicle mates, why not pick up any of these three USB fidgets from Brando? They come in basketball, golf and soccer models, each retailing for $14. Of course, pressing (tapping, more likely) the ball in question will help it bounce back to the other end of the screen from where the ball came from. A great way to test those reflexes, but do play this with your computer muted unless you want to get a warning letter from the management for not being dedicated enough at work.

Samsung D988 hitting China

Samsung D988 hitting China

Samsung’s foray into dual SIM handsets isn’t exactly the success story of the 21st century, but that doesn’t mean the Korean phone manufacturer is giving up. Samsung has just announced that it has another dual SIM phone hitting China - the D988, also known as the D980 DuoS for the rest of the world. Some of the specifications are :-

GSM Triband (900/1800/1900MHz), GPRS/EDGE connectivity Dual SIM GSM card slots 2.6? 240×320px QVGA 262k color display 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and flash microSD memory card slot Bluetooth 2.0 and USB connectivity

No idea on when it will arrive outside of China nor how much will it cost, but without 3G support, this handset looks set to reside in the mid-range market.

iPhone Gets Star Wars, The Force Unleashed

Shown live at E3, Star Wars, The Force Unleashed was also on the iPhone… it looks interesting. The video shows how the player controls the action, including attacking and deflecting lasers shots with a lightsaber. True Star Wars fans have already seen the LightSaber app for iPhone, right? Amazon Launches Video On Demand Service

Amazon Launches Video On Demand Service

Amazon is rolling out a new video on demand service that will replace the rather crappy “Unbox” service. Not surprisingly, Amazon decided to shelve Unbox, which required downloading the video to a device (PC, Xbox 360 or other). The download was anything but “instant”. The new one stream movies directly in the web browser, which is much better, instant-wise. Now if they could have a decent Media Center plug-in, that would make my day. I suspect that we won’t see this anytime soon on the Playstation3, given that Sony just launched their VOD service.
