Don’t you just love the ingenuity of folk out there, and thanks to the Internet, we’re able to share this knowledge with the rest of the world? Some guy had too much time (passion and knowledge included) on his hands, deciding to merge both an Xbox 360 and a High Definition LCD TV together, resulting in what he calls the “Microvision 360″. Talk about a space saver, although should you experience the dreaded Red Ring of Death, there isn’t much you can do about the entire situation. Won’t the heat from the TV affect how the Xbox 360 performs down the road? Kudos for such a mod - I’m looking forward to Wii and PS3 versions

I guess it is only a matter of time before somebody came up with the idea of a Bluetooth Umbrella - this concept device features a Bluetooth-enabled handle that offers you handsfree connectivity to your cell phone. In addition, it also comes with an integrated FM radio to allow you to stay entertained despite the gloomy weather all around. I don’t think many people will prefer to use this as their conversation device of choice, especially in public, as you will then make all your word exchanges public - dirty linen and all. Kudos to designer Mikhail Stawsky for the luscious design and concept art though. Why not throw in a solar panel on top so that this is self-powered indefinitely?

While everyone is pretty much excited about the iPhone’s release in 3G flavor, let us take a break at the moment and check out exactly how Samsung’s Instinct has been doing. Sprint’s partner, Best Buy, recently announced that the Instinct is officially the best selling handset from Best Buy over the past two years, shortly after laying claim to the title for being the fastest selling EVDO cell phone in Sprint’s history. After all, at just $129.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate and a 2-year contract, the value is pretty much clear to see. If you’re still in two minds on which phone to get, will you consider the Instinct over the iPhone?

Since the Olympics will be held in China this year, Chinese designer Li Jianye aims to bring more sporting fun into your office with the iOLYMPIC Wastebasketball. Perfect for those who have plenty of paper to throw away after making mistake after mistake. Of course, environmentally friendly people won’t be too happy with this since they might think this could possibly encourage us to subconsciously make mistakes just for the sake of throwing crumpled pieces of paper inside.

Medical science has progressed to such extent that a handheld nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) scanner has been developed, capable of diagnosing diseases and identifying pathogens on-the-go. This scanner is highly portable, being numerous times smaller compared to standard NMR spectroscopy machines. This is made possible by lining up nuclei in a sample using a powerful magnetic field and then zapping them with radio waves that cause them to wobble, or precess. The prototype is sensitive enough to detect a mere 10 bacteria in samples, and can also double up as a gizmo to test for water purity as well as gaseous samples. The design patent has already been filed, and the final product will be marketed in the near future.

This is one of those momentous events in life, where should it be proven true, a lot of things will change. The video shows an interesting device that pops popcorn simply by harnessing the heat generated from a USB port. Does this mean that geeks need not leave their tables any more in the future? After all, they just need a packet of popcorn seeds and they’re set for a few days where sustenance is concerned. Of course, it is rather disconcerting when you realize just how much heat a USB port generates, but that’s another story for another day.

I don’t know how many of you are nuts enough to work under the blazing sun, but Buffalo thinks that there are enough numbers to warrant the manufacturing of this solar-powered wireless keyboard. I guess normal sunlight through the windows into the room ought to be sufficient to keep it powered, but I have absolutely no idea just how long the battery will last before it needs to head out under the sun again. Hopefully the plastics used to manufacture this keyboard are durable enough to withstand the unforgiving rays of the sun. Not recommended for those who love to work late into the night.
