While most gaming peripherals were made for the male species, females are often left out in the lurch. No longer with the SteelSeries Iron.Lady bundle that targets female gamers specifically. Available in either pink or white colors, each $95.99 purchase comes with the SteelSeries Ikari Laser Mouse, a SteelSeries QcK mouse pad and a branded wristband. The Ikari Laser Mouse itself is a pretty impressive piece of gaming equipment, and stands several notches above your regular 800dpi optical mouse. This bundle will be released later this summer, which would mean a good part of your summer would have passed by already by then, leaving you with not much time left to game (if you’re a student).

This one’s definitely for the image conscious crowd. This cool Echo Mirror screen protector for the iPhone turns into a mirror when users turn off the backlight. It would come in real handy, especially if you don’t carry a mirror around. The price of vanity? $12.95. It can also be shipped to the U.S. Now users have another excuse to buy the iPhone. According to Japan’s business news source, Nikkei (online), Toyota is planning a Prius with solar panels by Kyocera Corp. Toyota has not unveiled any design plans for the solar panels. The solar panels will power the air conditioning on the Prius. If the solar panels on the Prius are only used to power the car’s air conditioning, in my opinion, it would be like a kind of waste as the solar panels could be used to power the car instead improving gasoline fuel efficiency.

There are seven thousand drowning every year in off-shore waters, but with the SEASCOUT Aquatic Rescue Robot patrolling around, casualies could be reduced greatly. It works by receiving signals from a GPS unit that every swimmer wears, the signal is activated by the swimmer is in distress and the Seascout, picking up the beacon will head straight for the drowing victim and scoop them up to safety. Designed by a student from Designskolen Kolding University in Denmark, Andre Harley, the Seascout can be directed manually or programmed to patrol in a random fashion until needed. It contains a internal lighting, a sunroof and a radio system to call for further aid – this is a concept.

Asus isn’t going to rest on their laurels with the phenomenal success of the Eee PC - in fact, the Taiwan-based company will be working on a 3G-capable version that will be released later this year in order to keep up with its rivals. It would be interesting to see how such a notebook will fare in the market, since data plans greatly vary from country to country and unlimited ones are pretty expensive to begin with in the first place. These 3G-enabled Eee PCs will feature internal 3G modules for HSDPA and HSUPA (High Speed Downlink/Uplink Packet Access), and it will most probably go on sale bundled with 3G contracts from a service provider. What is your comfort level when it comes to ponying up the cash for the 3G Eee PC?

Merging both a mechanical clock and a digital display is no mean task, which is why the Digimech Clock concept is rather interesting to look at. You not only get standard display figures that lets you know of the time through vertical sliders powered by electric motors and counter-weights, it also boasts printed numbers on vertical sliders that reveal themselves whenever aligned perfectly with the display box. It will be pretty hard to tell the current time at a glance, but it sure as heck is mesmerizing when it comes to watching the minutes ticking by, never to be returned to you ever again.

Pioneer has managed yet another world’s first with their 16-layer optical disc. This new optical disc is able to hold up to 400GB worth of data - that amounts to a whopping 25GB per layer. I wonder just how soon will it be before this technology catches on, making hard drives quiver in their pants when it comes to a choice of back up media. The first batch will be mighty expensive though. Blu-ray who?
