Mercedes-Benz makes in-car iPhone connection even easier

I just saw this on EngadgetMobile who saw it on eMercedesBenz who got it from the MB press release…just keeping it green by recycling folks. Here’s how it works.  First, you must specify Optional convenience telephony (Order Code 386). The cradle then connects without any tools into the audio system either via the optionally available Media Interface or the retrofittable iPod Interface Kit.  Once the cradle is installed, your iPhone’s music and phone functions can be controlled with the help of the multifunction steering wheel controls, while the vehicle’s display is used to indicate the phone status, music functions, etc.  Other features include automatic recharging while your iPhone is attached to the cradle as well as increased reception with the help of your vehicle’s aerial. If you’re interested, as already noted, the new Apple iPod cradle is available for ordering immediately (check with your dealer for local availability), while pricing is set at EU 249 (including VAT).http://www.emercedesbenz.com/

Apple Introduces the New iPhone 3G

Apple introduced the new iPhone 3G, combining all the revolutionary features of iPhone with 3G networking that is twice as fast as the first generation iPhone, built-in GPS for expanded location based mobile services, and iPhone 2.0 software which includes support for Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync and runs the hundreds of third party applications already built with the recently released iPhone SDK. iPhone 3G gives users ever faster access to the Internet and email over their cellular network with quad-band GSM and tri-band HSDPA for voice and data connectivity around the world. iPhone 3G supports Wi-Fi, 3G and EDGE networks and automatically switches between them to ensure the fastest possible download speeds. The new iPhone 3G also makes it easier to multi-task with simultaneous voice and data communications, so with iPhone 3G you can browse the web, get map directions, or check your email while you are on a call. iPhone 3G will be available in the US on July 11 for a suggested retail price of $199 (US) for the 8GB model and $299 (US) for the 16GB model in both Apple and AT&T’s retail stores and requires a new two year contract with AT&T for qualifying customers. iPhone 2.0 software will be available on July 11 as a free software update via iTunes 7.7 or later for all iPhone customers. Sprint WiMAX Coming Soon

Sprint WiMAX Coming Soon

Sprint’s long awaited WiMAX deployment will happen this September in Baltimore, with Washington DC and Chicago to follow before the year is over, according to Sprint CEO Dan Hesse. Better late than never, that’s what I say. The back-end system will be provided by Amdocs, and early adopters will have to dig deep since hardware to access the network won’t be subsidized, leaving consumers to pay the full cost for PC card modems, USB dongles and even the Nokia N810. Will you jump onto the WiMAX bandwagon when it arrives?

GPX MW3837 iPod Clone

GPX MW3837 iPod Clone

The GPX MW3837 might resemble the second generation iPod nano at a glance, but upon a second look, it is very different since you won’t get any of those fancy pants Touch Wheel, relying on traditional buttons instead to get the navigation job done. Other than that, the 1GB of internal memory and support for WMA DRM files among other popular audio formats are pretty ordinary. What makes this stand out from the crowd (apart from being an iPod clone) is the inclusion of dual headphone jacks, allowing you to enjoy your favorite tunes with another person without having to share headphones. Are you willing to part with $34.99 for this?

Lenovo ThinkPad X200 Peek

Lenovo ThinkPad X200 Peek

Lenovo’s ThinkPad X200 ultraportable notebook has experienced a leak today, and everyone is excited at how this 12″ notebook looks like. Set to oust the X61, the X200 has a keyboard as generous as the X300, but it does away with the trackpad to settle for the ThinkPad’s trackpoint instead. There won’t be any optical drive inside as well, which means the X200 weighs a featherlight 2.9 pounds. It will be powered by Intel’s Centrino 2 platform and consumes a mere 25 watts while operating. Other features include a 200GB hard drive, a trio of USB 2.0 ports, an ExpressCard slot and a 1.3 megapixel webcam. No idea on when this will ship nor how much your pocket will hurt.

CLEVER Concept Vehicle

CLEVER Concept Vehicle

The CLEVER concept design hails from the Technical University of Berlin, featuring a small fuel-efficient vehicle that is meant for city driving. It features a computer-countrolled hydraulic rolling system that allows you to enjoy an unparalleled driving experience of zero lateral forces at tilting angles of up to 45, which is akin to riding a motorcycle. A single cylinder 230cc compressed natural gas engine will run the CLEVER concept, and you won’t be burning rubber anytime soon with a top speed of 62 mph. Being a “green” vehicle, it churns out less than 60 g/km of CO2, boasting a stunning fuel consumption of 188 miles per gallon. Too bad there’s no way to, er, pool CLEVER-ly with your colleagues.

Victor-JVC Headphones

Victor-JVC Headphones

Victor-JVC has busted out a quartet of new headphones that are meant to be used with a TV - and these hail from the HP-AV and HP-X Series. Both the HP-AV350 and HP-X73 offers a frequency response of 12Hz-24,000Hz and pressure sensitivity of 104dB/1mW. As for the HP-AV250 and HPX53, you get a 14Hz-23,000Hz frequency response and 97dB pressure sensitivity. No idea on how much these will cost though, but you must be one night owl to watch TV so late into the night (and early in the morning) if you need headphones all the time.
