Pantech’s Duo 2 has apparently been approved by the FCC , but still scant detail is available concerning the device’s features. So far we do know that it will be a dual band dual phone, compatible with both North American GSM, and North American W-CDMA(3G) bands. This will be accompanied by Wi-Fi connectivity, but other than that we don’t know anything else including the launch date and pricing. For those who love drawing on history, the current Pantech Duo retails for $199.99, so one can expect its successor to be a wee bit more expensive.

And I thought S3 had given up the fight after its Virge line of video cards peformed miserably against 3DFX in the past, but apparently the company is still alive and kicking, with the Chrome 400 GTX being based on the low-profile PCI Express Gen 2 graphics card specification, targeting PC users who want the advantage of dual-stream Picture-in-Picture (PiP) 1080p Blu-ray Disc playback with the latest DirectX 10.1/OpenGL 2.1 unified shader architecture. It will run on GDDR3 memory and claims to outperform the current market leader (ATI Radeon HD 3470) in its class by more than 15% in 3D benchmarks and rendered frames-per-second in the most popular DX10 and DX9 games. Folks building a HTPC ought to consider this, especially at an attractive price point of just £35.

Now’s the time to take advantage of Sharper Image’s store closing sales as more than $50 million of inventory is being sold. The store closing won’t be permanent as it is part of a move to transform the Sharper Image brand, and customers will be able to find 20% to 40% discounts across all 86 Sharper Image stores. I personally would have preferred to see a higher level of discount of at least 50%, but well, the ones on offer are better than not having any discount at all. Will you be making a bee-line to any Sharper Image stores?

The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 is one hotly anticipated handset this summer for obvious reasons, and for those living in the UK you had better cozy up with Orange’s terms and conditions if you want to pick one up since word on the street has it that the XPERIA X1 will be heading towards that wireless carrier. There is no official announcement just yet, but it is already displayed under Orange’s “virtual developer centre” at their site. Guess it is time to start saving up, boys and girls.

The Chessmobile is not a vehicle that features a traveling troupe of chess players, but features a cabin that is located on top of a platform which makes it mobile in the event of a crash, helping prevent passengers from entering the deformation zome. This would, theoretically, prevent the bulk of the impact from reaching the passengers, which in turn results in a whole lot less injury. No idea if this concept is workable or not, and the question remains as to whether the cabin can be held onto the platform by something strong since an impact is most likely to send the former flying away from the latter.

While most USB webcams feature a built-in microphone, how many of them actually has a speaker embedded within? This one does, retailing for an impossibly high $31.99. I personally don’t think that’s a fair price to pay, as one can expect less than decent audio quality to come out from it. LG’s VX8610 Decoy has yet to be announced, but has already started to show up on the FCC site. It seems as though Verizon will be picking up this new handset and making it available to the masses on June 16th.
