The Link Child Locator

The Link Child Locator

You never know which zoned out person today could just snatch your kid away at a busy mall, so it is always better to prevent something from happening than to look for a cure. The Link Child Locator concept device ought to be manufactured soonest possible, as it is capable of letting you track down your kid within a 100 foot radius - perfect for moms who already have a hard enough time trying to get the week’s groceries while managing her bunch of little ones at a local store. The child will wear one of the bracelets, while the parent will wear the other in order to view the direction and distance of the child at a glance. Definitely not something to wear when you’re playing hide and seek. Other than pixie magic, I guess this will rely on some sort of GPS signal if it were to be developed.

FCC approves Philips X800

FCC approves Philips X800

Guess here’s more nitty gritty on the Philips X800 after receiving the nod of approval from the almighty FCC. Guess several things are confirmed now, including Chinese character input as well as an English-Chinese dictionary. It does come with EDGE connectivity, but that’s as far as it goes since 3G and Wi-Fi have been ruled out. A 2 megapixel camera, a microSD memory card slot and a 240 x 400 resolution touch screen display rounds off the list of features. If anything, this will probably confirm initial reports of it being released just for the China market. Ah well, all we need to do now is wait for an official announcement.

Surf Chair for the Lazy

Surf Chair for the Lazy

There is nothing quite like spending a quiet afternoon on a comfortable chair, surfing on your favorite websites. This makes the Surf Chair very suitable for such activities, allowing you to just laze while enjoying the latest webcomics or movie reviews without a care in the world. The monitor, while not the largest in the world, is suspended in front of the user and can be adjusted to suit your viewing angle. It would have been nice to see some sort of folding tray attached to this workstation, but I guess the designer didn’t want to run the risk of having you spill some drinks on it by accident.

Evergreen EG-MS221 Speakers

Evergreen EG-MS221 Speakers

Evergreen has launched a new mini speaker set known as the EG-MS221. These will function just fine as desktop speakers compared to those generic models which normally are thrown in with each purchase as a complimentary gesture. You get a total power output of 1.5W (definitely not enough to bring the house down during a party), a frequency response of 110Hz-20,000Hz, 1 .5’’ aluminum audio cones, and an impedance power of 4 O. No idea on how much it will cost though.

Glowing LEGO Clone Trooper

Glowing LEGO Clone Trooper

A Clone Trooper is but a Clone Trooper, right? Apparently not, if you happen to be a hardcore Star Wars fan with plenty of time and passion on your hands to convert this regular LEGO Clone Trooper into one that has glowing eyes, thanks to the use of LED. It isn’t too difficult to throw in the LED, but I guess you’ll need a steady pair of hands and a fair number of LEGO figures before you get the entire process down pat.

Focal iBoom HiFi iPod Dock

Focal iBoom HiFi iPod Dock

Focal from Japan announced its new iBoom HiFi iPod Dock that functions with a wide range of iPods, ranging from the obsolete mini to the touch. Japan is a pretty huge consumer of the iPod after all, so it makes sense for this to be released there in the first place. Other than playing back your favorite tunes, this iBoom iPod dock also doubles up as a charger when your iPod is docked within. Features include a couple of speakers, a single 3″ woofer and one tweeter. The Apple remote works just fine with this 2kg unit, and it won’t take up too much space in your tiny Tokyo apartment, measuring 300mm × 190mm × 240mm. Expect to fork out a pretty pricey $300 for this.

Asustek Essentio CS5110

Asustek Essentio CS5110

Asustek will be launching the Essentio CS5110 as part of their Eee Station series at Computex early next month. What this tiny multimedia desktop PC will have include an optional Blu-ray drive for folks who prefer to enjoy their high definition media in front of the computer instead of the living room. You will be able to choose from either white or black colors, with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor running at the heart of things. Depending on the overall system configuration, you are expected to fork out anywhere between $657 to $1,642 - no prizes for guessing which added component will see a significant price bump.
