Now here’s an entry level MP3 player - the Crammer from Leapfrog. It comes with a paltry 1GB internal memory and can carry pre-programmed flashcards as well as machine-pronounced vocabulary words. No color screen here as you’ll have to settle for a monochrome display instead. The Crammer comes with a couple of buttons on top while navigation is performed via a rocking display ala iRiver Clix. Talk about a bare bones MP3 player! I’d rather settle for the iPod Shuffle, never mind the lack of words in my vocabulary.

Elonex of Britain has released its One laptop that retails for a mere £99. Powered by Linux, this laptop offers all standard creature comforts like a 3-hour battery life, WiFi connectivity, and a flash-based hard drive, all crammed into a hard-wearing case that tips the scales at less than 1kg. Most people will immediately spot parallels with the OLPC project and the Asus Eee, but so far the Elonex One seems to be the cheapest option among all the above mentioned. You’ll be contributing to society if you pick one up, since Elonex has pledged to donate one One laptop to underprivileged children for every 100 laptops sold.

If you think you know all about the opposite sex, think again. The X vs Y game will definitely be a fun game the next time you go out for a double date (or more). This electronic game for adults explores various aspects of life such as love, work, home, appearance, relationships, marriage, and the all important differences between men and women. Packaged inside is an electronic card scanner with automatic scoring (no more cheating here) and an adjustable volume. If you want to check out how the game is like, head on to the X vs Y website for a quick preview. Not sure if guys are willing to play a boardgame like this at a party - I know I’d rather be shooting an endless line of tequila.

Japan will be receiving LED street lamps from Tokyo-based Iwasaki Electronic pretty soon, with the E5002SA1/2 and E5003SA1/2 being the models in question. The former features a quartet of wide-angle lens LEDs that makes it perfect for lighting side streets, parks and malls, while the 3SA1/2 LED street lamp has a trio of middle-angle lens LEDs which are more suitable for illuminating a single angle. The E5002SA1/2 and E5003SA1/2 retails for $1,283 and $1,191, respectively.

Now here’s an interesting method to convert your Compact Flash (CF I/II) card into an instant SATA hard drive - pick up the UNITEK Compact Flash to SATA Adapter and you’re good to go. You have a choice of mounting this on a 3.5″ drive mount or a PCI slot - it’s your call. While large capacity CF cards are pretty expensive, they’d make a great way to experience faster load times for games without purchasing an SSD-equipped PC. Just take note of your card’s writing limit should you decide to install an operating system on it. The UNITEK Compact Flash to SATA Adapter retails for $30.

If you happen to suffer from the malaise of scratched CDs, then why not put some toothpaste on the underside the next time round and give it a good, circular rub with a tissue? Well, I guess with more and more media coming in the form of flash memory, such fixes will become rarer in the future.

Well well, what do we have here? A CD player concept even though we are truly well into 2008 where iPods and other PMPs roam the earth. Still, this is a pretty interesting concept that comes with a remote control that has a tilt sensing bar within. A touch screen display completes the remote, where leaving the bar vertical allows you to change the volume level while a horizontal position is meant for changing tracks. Pandora has also created this concept by using Alcantara - a material used in luxury cars and yachts. Neat, eh?
