Blu_Ray High-Definition Make-Up

Blu_Ray High-Definition Make-Up

This sounds like a joke, but it is actually serious: Cargo Cosmetics has a line of cosmetics called Blu_Ray (underscore), not to be confused with Blu-Ray (dash). Cargo even uses a very similar font and blue tone.

But it all makes sense when you read Cargo’s moto: “Make-up developed for High-Definition filming”.

The idea that someone would make this is already stunning, but it’s even more surprising to think that someone might buy it. But hey, who wants make up for low-definition filming, huh?

Quake II for Nintendo DS

Quake II for Nintendo DS

It looks like someone did a successful port of Quake II for the Nintendo DS. We have not seen it in action, but it’s quite impressive, given the amount memory and CPU processing that the game requires, even if it’s old. By looking at the screenshots, I can tell that the static light-maps (shadows) are working, but I don’t know about the dynamic lighting.

Users will need additional memory (yes, the game doesn’t fit) in the form of a SLOT-2 flash card (16MB minimum). Be warned that the game performs better with a faster card.

Homemade PSP Concept

Homemade PSP Concept

Closed, it looks like a miniature version of my old retro-projected TV. Open it looks like my old retro-projected TV with huge PlayStation buttons.

This is a well done, very interesting concept image (click to zoom), but from the ratio of the display to the lack of space around the buttons, I don’t think that the idea would work.

iPhone Survives Frozen Peril, Saves Its Owner

iPhone Survives Frozen Peril, Saves Its Owner

Just like the Geico advertising shows, there’s no better marketing than your customer stories, that said - only when the device doesn’t burn in their pocket.

Anyhow, a man from Oklahoma had a tree fall on him, throwing him into a somewhat frozen pond. With a broken leg, he might have not made it, if his iPhone had not survived the ordeal. Fortunately, it did and the wounded man placed a call to 911. Now he’s a bigger fan and will buy one to his wife. [paste Happy Ending here]

Bicycle MP3 Amplifier with Stereo Speakers

Bicycle MP3 Amplifier with Stereo Speakers

Don’t let the jerk with his old Ford Mustang be the only person to annoy the whole neighborhood with his loud stereo: add the Bicycle MP3 Amplifier and generate some noise of your own.

It uses a standard 3.5mm audio jack that makes it compatible with virtually all noise-producing electronics and it comes in an airtight shell for these dusty or rainy days. It is powered by two AA battery and costs $29.

Rumor: iPhone and iPod Touch Price Cuts?

Rumor: iPhone and iPod Touch Price Cuts?

The word on the street is that Apple will cut the price of both devices by as much as $100 just when it holds an Apple Special Event (also a rumor) at the end of February.

Apple would also drop the 8GB iPod Touch and retail only 16GB and 32GB versions. Obviously this is just a rumor for now, but the logic behind it is that many believe that Apple need to make room for the upcoming 3G iPhone that would arrive in May or June. We believe that this is a probable date for the new iPhone.

Is a $299 iPhone going to spark another “early adopter outrage”? (They paid $599 less than a year ago)

If you are an early adopter: would you be outraged?

The San Francisco Chronicle (and many others) reports that BlackBerry users have difficulties to get their emails today. Others sites have been reporting something similar. Not so long ago, millions of BlackBerry subscribers had to deal with something similar.

Update: The outage has been confirmed and it spans across America and Canada. It is affecting all carriers.

Best Buy Sides with Blu-Ray Too

Best Buy Sides with Blu-Ray Too

Shortly after hearing that Netflix pledged allegiance to Blu-Ray, we learn that Best Buy will do just the same thing. Best-Buy will recommend consumers to choose Blu-Ray over HD-DVD.

Given he current market conditions, it might be a sound advice.

The store will continue to carry HD-DVD hardware, but we wonder how long this will continue.

MSN Direct For Windows Mobile

MSN Direct For Windows Mobile

The MSN Direct service is now available for Windows Mobile devices. We tested it and it works. It lets users get stock tickers and breaking news more conveniently than going to a website with Pocket Internet Explorer.

As you can see on the photo above, the light green rectangle is MSN Direct. It shows some news right there, but by going left and right, you can look at weather forecasts and stock tickers too. There’s also an advertisement for Microsoft services in the mix…
