Now I would assume if you are able to afford such a huge TV to sit in your bathroom, then chances are your bathroom is proportionately huge in size, translating to a large house and a high paycheck. If that’s the case, price ought not be an issue where the 57″ Aquavision AVF 57-4LCD flat panel display is concerned. This waterproof LCD TV comes with the following features :- 1,920 x 1,080 resolutionAnalogue and digital tunersTwo HDMI inputsWaterproof remote control

This 13.3” laptop from LuvBook looks good and uses an Intel Penryn processor. It’s a recent model using a more advanced manufacturing process that gives it a better price-per-performance ratio and more consumer-friendly properties. Curiously, our friends from Aving mention 12GB of mass storage, so I can only assume that it’s a SSD (solid-state drive).

Motor sports often divides the world into folks who absolutely love it while the remaining ones couldn’t give two hoots about it. For those who fall in the former category, there is the Pro RaceTrainer that features an all-inclusive and fully organized race driver-training platform, holding the most up-to-date PC hardware, BRD Racing software and AV technology. The Pro RaceTrainer is capable of modifying different conditions such as the precise racecar model and track reconstruction, and the 21″ TFT display, 5.1 surround sound system, adjustable steering, pedal, gearbox and seating position pretty much puts you in the (virtual) driving seat. The only drawback I see is the £9,950 price tag which puts this well out of reach for many.

Many observers are scratching their heads after the announcement that Nokia is buying Trolltech for $150 million. After all, Nokia has a majority stake in Symbian, a hugely popular smartphone operating system (OS) developer. Symbian OS powers Nokia’s smartest phones. To justify the buyout, Nokia says that this will ”enable Nokia to accelerate its cross-platform software strategy for mobile devices and desktop applications, and develop its Internet services business.”
And accelerate, it might. There’s no question that a multi-platform company like TrollTech can help ease what is the most annoying thing to mobile developers: the fragmentation of hardware and software in the mobile space. This would allow developers to focus their efforts on user experience, rather than compatibility.
Nokia understands that software is where the value is, and depending of how the company manages the effort, it could prove to be an edge against more hardware-centric companies, like Samsung who recently climbed to the second spot. It’s not a guaranteed success, but it’s a sound strategic move.

We wrote that Palm might shut down its stores– the news is out. Seven out of eight Palm stores, along with 26 smaller airport wireless stores. They close amid business difficulties: it has not come forward with a killer-device like the Treo 600, 700w once were nor the killer application/OS that would make use choose Palm over rivals HTC or Apple.
Being commoditized by Windows Mobile made them a target to better device makers, and the inability to make Palm OS evolve hampered user experience control. I don’t see a way out for Palm at the moment.

Could the RoboThespian be a new wave of actors that could possibly pick up an Oscar when technology that powers it is perfected? Perhaps, since this robotic puppet from Engineered Arts is already pretty capable of doing spoken parts, singing, story telling and even a few dance maneuvers. Currently, the RoboThespian is performing at The Eden Project in Cornwall.

NVIDIA’s high-end SLI isn’t for desktops anymore: NVIDIA just announced that the GeForce 8800M GTX SLI would soon be available from a number of high-profile manufacturers like Dell (and Alienware).
If you’re not familiar with SLI (Scalable Link Interface), it is a multi-GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) setup that practically doubles the graphics performance when two GPUs are working together to render a frame. Usually, multi-GPU configurations are big and hot, especially when using a high-performance chip, so this is an interesting development.
Note that 3–Way SLI and Quad-SLI exist on desktop machines, and take a look at the upcoming Hybrid-SLI as well – this is my personal favorite.

Gefen aims to solve your HDMI headaches thanks to its new switchbox that allows you to automatically switch between four HDMI inputs and forwarding signals through to a solitary input. This allows one to restore the last video choice automatically at the time of power down whenever a particular unit powers back up. For control freaks, fret not. Gefen has thrown in a tiny handheld remote to go nuts with. The box not only switches signals, it also amplifies them and passes on HDCP encoding. Gefen is currently making this unit available for $199.

Looks like it is a great time to be a customer of Virgin, where ‘L’ subscribers are set to receive a speed boost from 4Mbit to a whopping 10Mbps. And how much do these subscribers have to fork out? Not a single penny, which translates to free. According to Virgin, a connection like this makes it possible (theoretically) to download a typical audio track within four seconds, a whole album in less than a minute and even a whole TV show within five minutes! Real world usage will probably be longer though, so don’t get too excited just yet. In all probability the Traffic Management policy will still be maintained, resulting in caps of five hours for upload and download speeds whenever more than 800MB are downloaded during the peak hours (4pm to 9pm). Free upgrades - when are we going to see that Stateside?
