I can’t get more minimalist than this: two mp3 players connect to the box, which mixes the audio to a single output. It’s probably not any DJ’s dream but might work for a party on a budget with a busy DJ… may be. Would you pick that up?

In case you missed it, the Mac version of the JailBreak (unlock software) for the iPhone 1.1.3 firmware is out. It can be downloaded at cre.ations.net.
The software was previously available on Windows (nice irony). Try it at your own risk and don’t forget to backup your data before doing it!

This is an interesting concept for a flying gadget: by rubbing the device between your hands, you provide enough energy for it to fly and to capture photos during the flight.
Useless but neat, huh?

Sony has a smaller Blu-Ray optical module that can be used to produce thinner drives for laptops, including slot-loading drives, which raises the possibility of a Blu-Ray MacBook, especially given Steve Job’s comments about Blu-Ray during the recent MacWorld. The size reduction also comes with a price reduction – which was expected and very appreciated.

Japan’s national broadcasting company, NHK, is looking to have Hi-Vision (also called Ultra-HDTV) ready by 2025. It is currently intended to be used only for large screens of 60-inches or above.
Hi-Vision has a resolution of 7680×4320, which is exactly 16 times more pixels than current 1920×1080 HDTV videos. It is being tested by NHK on a 500” display with a 22.2 surround sound system, the only one in its class. NHK believes that such an extreme resolution is “too much” for living rooms. “Watching fast-moving images at close quarters could “make people feel sick” says Masuru Kanazawa, a research engineer at NHK [via BBC].
But we all know that “too much” isn’t in the consumer electronics industry. I’m pretty happy with a 2560×1600 on a 30” monitor, so why having 7680×4320 pixels on a 60” one seems like a good idea, if the price is right. What do you think?

Spotted on swongled.com, this card is thought by some to be an SIM-unlock hardware solution that coots $30. We’re skeptical at best, because this looks like a hoax, but we thought that it might be a good topic for a quick talk at the coffee machine. First, is it possible to do a SIM that would crack the phone’s SIM lock? I don’t think so - what do you think?

The Asus Eee with Windows XP Home is on sale in Japan, under the name Eee 4G-X, for $470. Other than that, it is pretty much the same machine than the Linux version. If you are not familiar with the Asus Eee, here are some highlights:

That’s the result from a study done by Strategy Analytics. That’s an increase of 10% from the Billion phones sold in 2006 and the growth is expected to continue to 1.24B phones for 2008. The growth in unit shipped is driven by emerging regions, where Nokia leads. I thought that Motorola had dropped at the forth place, but here’s what the studay says:
1/Nokia2/Samsung3/Motorola
