BUGlabs has decided to release a version of its BUGbase unit without the WiFi functionality. Why? Simply because the WiFi drivers are still under development and that it is probably best to not wait any further for that piece of software.
To make up for it, BUGLabs will be offering the BUGwifi module at cost, plus a free BUGvonhippel. Head to the BUGLabs blog for more info.

AKG organized this cool concert for the media, so we could experience for the first time live music through wireless headphones. It was great! The sound is really good, better than live music in general. I think it is great for small to medium size gig, but for large ones, one could miss the energy of traditional live music. The headphones used for this experiment are the AKG - K 920 AFC. The AKG K series headphones are only available in Europe in professional equipment retailers, and AKG plans to launch soon to consumer retailers in the US. Read more about the band here and check out the concert photo gallery by clicking on the button below the photo.Photo: Left, Jack Blades, right Tommy Shaw

Last year at CES, the top Plasma manufacturer claimed that they were selling their 103-inch “by the hundreds” … at a $80 000 to $50000 price tag since its launch in 2006, I can imagine why the real number is only 15 units for 2007. One customer from the Middle East got five of them! In my opinion, the world’s largest commercially available TV is more of a marketing investment than a real source of revenues for Panasonic, a bit like Formula1 cars for automotive manufacturers. That’s why they did it again by releasing a 150-inch this year.

Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) is a certification that vouches for the interoperability between wireless devices. It has been created to improve the communication between connected entertainment devices, like home media servers and wireless multimedia players.
In practice, it means that you could share the media content created by your N95 with your home server, or stream from the media server to watch a movie on your N95, instead of your 42” Plasma TV… huh?

For all my Quake and Tekken skills, I can draw a thing on an Etch a Sketch to save my life. May be that’s because my Etch a Sketch was not on a big TV like this one, but I doubt it.
Anyhow, if you want your kids to go through the same frustration, only on a bigger screen, there’s TV Etch a Sketch.

You can get the Epson Stylus CX7450 printer/scanner/copier for $70. They laso offer a $70 msil-in rebate if you buy any digital camera with the printer. Like the $9.99 Argus Keychain Camera, with the shipping the final price is $ 86.78. So, after rebate you will get the printer for less than $17. Cool, no?The features include four separate ink cartridges (black, cyan, magenta, yellow), a print speeds of up to 28 pages per minute, a memory-card reader, a 120 sheet paper tray and basic scan/copy capabilities. The camera is not good, but you can use it as a webcam. The rebate is valid until March 31, but the $9.99 camera may not be available at this time.

If I say “Michelin”, you think “Tires”, right? Well, that resumes why Michelin is exiting the consumer GPS Market. While you might think that this sector is technology-driven, it is not really - at least, not in the entry-level market. GPS devices have reached the point of being “good enough” and most people couldn’t care less about gimmicks like multimedia features.
However, like any commodity, branding still plays a major role in selling the products (yes, just like soap) and Michelin never built a GPS brand that did resonate with consumers. I guess that the company thought that its foothold on the “auto’ market was good enough. It wasn’t.

PocketPCItalia reports that Toshiba is going to launch a Portégé G-Series that is not a Smartphone: the G450. The phone is designed to be a minimalist phone with a basic (unpractical?) dial pad and a small OLED display. However, it has 160MB of memory and it is also capable of connecting at HSDPA (3.5G) speeds. To do what? Simply to be used as a USB 3G modem for laptops. $290, in Europe only at the moment.
Other models include the G910 that we already covered (G900 at the FCC here).

Buffalo is launching a series of external optical drives in Europe. The high-end model will feature a HD-DVD/Blu-Ray combo drive. It will be able to write Blu-Ray discs, but only read HD-DVD. If writing Blu-Ray discs isn’t in your todo list, there is another model that only reads both formats.
Available in Europe in March. No pricing yet.
