GX-1 Duo hamburger speakers

GX-1 Duo hamburger speakers[CES 2008] Walking around the CES showfloor makes one hungry fast, considering the frenetic pace which everything moves. Along comes a piece of hardware that makes the hungry…well, hungrier. The GX-1 Duo Capsule Speaker is a pocket-size speaker system shaped after a hamburger that comes with integrated bass support and a rechargeable battery, letting you blast your favorite tunes to share with your friends no matter where you are. The internal battery requires a 2 hours charge, where it can last anywhere from 4 to 6 hours of playback. When not in use, it can be compressed as shown above (closed speaker in white) for easy portability. It will be available in single or stereo options which retail for $14 and $20 respectively. Don’t expect high quality sound though, as I cranked up the iPod nano’s volume to the maximum, the GX-1 Duo started to crack. It would be nice to have an additional volume control on the GX-1 Duo instead of relying purely on your PMP/MP3 player’s volume.

Hybrid Charger

Hybrid Charger[CES 2008] The Hybrid Charger you see here doubles up as a car charger or a travel charger, letting you bring one less device to carry should you hit the road. It works with USB-powered devices only, but then again that isn’t too big of a problem since many devices these days are powered by USB anyways. The USB connector as well as power pins can be retracted into the space within, but as you can see above, this is what it looks like when fully opened. There isn’t any word on pricing or availability, but hopefully future iterations of the Hybrid Charger will come with more than a single USB port.

BlueAnt V1 Voice Controlled Bluetooth Headset

BlueAnt V1 Voice Controlled Bluetooth Headset[CES 2008] BlueAnt aims to stay ahead of the competition with its new V1 Bluetooth headset that claims to be the first voice-controlled headset of its kind in the world. Thanks to the BlueGenie Voice User Interface, the V1 comes with a variety of functions that can be accessed simply by speaking to the headset. It isn’t too large either, and comes in a simple and elegant design. I like the way the BlueAnt logo glows when it is powered. No longer do you need to deal with the hassle of remembering the range of combinations and button pushes to pair up your regular Bluetooth headset with your cellphone. The BlueAnt V1 is tipped to ship this April for $119 a pop. Voice-controlled functions of the V1 are as follows :- Answer/Ignore CallRedialCall Back/Home or Office/Favorite (maximum of 5 numbers)Enable Pair ModeCheck Battery/ConnectionActivate Phone’s Voice DialHelp and Settings Menu

Limepc Widescreen[CES 2008] All-in-one PCs are pretty nice to look at, but then again they aren’t very upgrade friendly when you think about it. The unit on display did not have the TruSound speakers attached to it, and under the bright lights, you can tell that this is a major fingerprint magnet. Variety of Limepc devices on parade

Variety of Limepc devices on parade[CES 2008] Here are more Limepc devices on display - and they are the Limepc UMPC, the Limepc HandheldPC and the Limepc PalmPC (from big to small size as depicted). They all do not come with any sort of keyboard, so your guess is as good as mine - they all boast a touchscreen display. You can attach a USB keyboard to these in order to type your documents as well as manage all other office work, but don’t even think about getting a spot of serious gaming in (Bejeweled and other browser-based games ought to be fine). All of them run on LimeOS as the operating system of choice, and you get a suite of applications that does word processing, spreadsheets and presentations. Would be interesting to see which market segment these fit in. These won’t be out in the market anytime soon. Below are the common specifications that all of them share. Airsoft Tank to annoy pets (and kids)

Airsoft Tank to annoy pets (and kids)[CES 2008] Ever wish you had an airsoft gun to pelt your kids and pets into submission? Battery Option Limited from the Far East has just unveiled a range of Airsoft Tanks - albeit a wee bit too late as Christmas has just passed, but it would still make a pretty cool year-round toy. Each tank was built to resemble their real-world counterparts at a much smaller scale, and the paint job looked pretty realistic to it. Depending on the model you pick, the included remote control works across a range of frequencies so as not to mess with the rest of your wireless devices at home. There is no word on pricing or availability as at press time, although each tank will come with a bottle of BB pellets. The tank can hold anywhere from 50 to 100 pellets, and has a remote-controlled turret (up, down, left, right) While it won’t guzzle any sort of fuel, you’d best get rechargeable batteries as each tank consumes 8 AA batteries that last for approximately 2 hours before they’re depleted. The range of tanks are :- M1A2 AbramsLeopard 2Type 90Tiger IT72M1

Limepc HDTV on display

Limepc HDTV on display[CES 2008] Many folks these days tend to have a Media Center PC setup right in the middle of their living room, so it is no wonder newcomer MTC from the East has come up with a slew of new products including the Limepc HDTV. This 42″ LCD display does not do full HD though, maxing out at 720p (that’s good enough for me, but if you’re a true blue videophile then this just won’t do for you). There isn’t any price details available for the Limepc HDTV at the moment, but you would probably avoid playing PC games on this as the processor and graphical capabilities of the computer isn’t exactly up to par for high-end games. Best to use this for movies and video games (Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii) IMHO. 42″ (720p) LCD displayBuilt-in ATSC/Analog dual mode tunerAudio: Stereo, 5.1 AudioVideo: HDMI, VGA, YPbPr, S-Video, RCAWiFi 802.11b/gBluetooth 2.0 connectivity10/100 EthernetTwo USB 2.0 portsFreescale MPC5121e mobileGT processor

SanDisk 12GB microSDHC hit the streets

SanDisk 12GB microSDHC hit the streets[CES 2008] SanDisk is once again on the forefront of things where flash memory is concerned, releasing the first 12GB microSDHC memory card in the world. I guess cellphones in the coming year that boast more and more multimedia capabilities while supporting this memory standard will find an additional 12GB of portable memory handy. I’d make a backup of all my data on this if I were you - carrying something as small as my fingernail that holds important data is certainly nothing to joke about, especially when you lose it on your travels. It will be available in Q1 2008, although SanDisk has not attached any retail pricing to it just yet.
