Skyfire unveiled a new mobile browser that makes browsing on a smartphone just like browsing on a PC. For the first time ever, smartphone users can experience the “real Web” to access and interact with any Web site built with any Web technology, including dynamic Flash, advanced Ajax, Java and more - at the same speeds they are accustomed to on their PC. With this free downloadable browser, users can finally watch videos from the real YouTube, stay connected with their friends on the full-feature PC versions of Facebook and MySpace, and listen to any Web music service like Last.fm. Before Skyfire, users painfully waited for these Flash and Ajax-heavy sites to render - often resulting in error messages or crashes.Skyfire includes numerous features aimed at simplifying the mobile browsing experience. For example, when a user conducts a Web search from the home page, Skyfire pulls results from multiple search engines and displays the results in multiple tabs that consumers can easily navigate. In addition, users can bookmark specific locations on a Web page to get to the content that matters most to them in one click - such as stock quotes, sports scores, blog messages, etc. Skyfire’s user interface features full screen navigation, thumbnail views and zooming to seamlessly resize the Web content to fit the mobile screen.http://www.skyfire.com/sign-up

Dell has responded to rumors suggesting that it will co-announce something with google at Barcelona’s Mobile World Congress. A spokesperson for Dell said that Dell won’t even attend the show (well, they don’t sell phones…) and has no products to announce there.
Observers point out that Dell did not say that it was not working with Google or that it does intend to enter the cellphones space. If you missed it, the rumor started in the UK when a magazine suggested that Dell would enter the cellphone space using the Google Android OS, rather than Windows Mobile

Images of what is thought to be the new HTC TouchFlo interface (codenamed Manila) have popped on the web. HTC is tight-lipped about this, so we can only speculate that more touch-interface phones will come. The question is: how hot will they be?
If you feel like it, you can try to download Manila and try it – at your own risk. Forum discussions here. [via HTC insider]

Funny thing is if you watch the video, they don’t even know who they’re supposed to be. Called a celebration of geek culture, this year’s calendar’s theme is heros and villians. Today, I’ve seen plenty of articles ranging from “Fujitsu, Lenovo to use MacBook Air CPU?” to “PC vendors to use the MacBook Air’s tiny Intel chip”. So what would make people think that Intel build a chip “just for Apple”? After all, MacBooks are “pretty PCs’, using PC components made by PC-centric companies. The most important differentiator is Mac OS.
Of course, there’s no question that MacBooks have taken an important share of the market, but common, Intel isn’t just going to sell a small-package chip to Apple only. I’m not even buying the idea that Intel built the chip because Apple asked them to. It is not as if the idea of creating smaller chips and packaging is new…
Others ultra-thin laptops will come and they might even have more ports and an optical drive.

Looks like taking a bath is no longer a simple affair these days, not when you have home improvement ideas like the Bath-O-Matic. This device from Unique Automation is a digital bath filler that lowers the motorized plug, fills up the bathtub to a stored temperature of your liking at the correct depth, with the option to spice up the situation by adding some bubble bath and fragrances into the water. The Bath-O-Matic is hooked up to AMX and Crestron systems via RS-232 or TCP/IP, and comes with a touch screen interface for you to key in all the necessary details before you strip down for the day. The $8,000 asking price will probably cause most people to turn away, leaving this to be a plaything of the rich.

Check out the Podera Deskscape Reader which adds a wee bit of finesse to your working area, as it takes the opposite route of design by occupying too much space than it should. Functionally speaking, it doesn’t amount up to much either, being capable of reading just Memory Sticks, MMC and SD cards. Available in grey, green, orange, yellow and blue colors, the Podera Deskscape Reader retails for $30.77. At that price you can probably get a 55-in-1 memory card reader, although it won’t have the same level of aesthetic value with the Podera Deskscape Reader.
