Air France is trying to find the right balance between convenience and annoyance when it comes to using cellphones in planes. A base station in the plane will relay all the transmissions via satellite.
At first, users will be able to send/receive text messages, then at some point, Air France will also authorize calls. Passengers will be able to dial, as if it was an normal international call, but the cost isn’t known, even if Air France says that it will be comparable to “normal” cellphone use (on land).
That sounds interesting, but for my entertainment, I would prefer to have an unlimited internet connection (and an electric plug) when I travel to Europe… Obviously, having both would be great.

Verion just announced that they signed an exclusive deal to bring the Guitar Hero 3 game to a (Verizon) mobile phone near you. As you can exect, the phone’s keypad will serve as your “guitar”. If someone out there tries it, can you post your first impressions in the comments?
Of course, no press release would be fun without a little marketing, hum… positioning: “Guitar Hero III Mobile allows rockers to jam anytime, anywhere to the same stunning graphics, high-quality audio and addictive gameplay that fans of the wildly popular console series have come to expect.” (’>press release)
You tell me if you think that the mobile screenshots above show the same “stunning graphics” than you got used to on your game console.

Apple Computer and ThinkSecret’s founder Nick Ciarelli have agreed to terms that shuts the site down for good. Nick started the site nine years ago when he was just 13 years old.
“I’m pleased to have reached this amicable settlement, and will now be able to move forward with my college studies and broader journalistic pursuits,” he said in his statement.
The case between ThinkSecret and Apple started after the site published details about an unreleased product. That product would eventually be the Mac mini. Many legal analysts believe Apple would have lost on First Amendment grounds, but the settlement ends all that. Source: Yahoo

This is the LEXID X-Ray Imaging Device. “Lobster-Eye” describes the optics. It’s not that lobsters have superpowers, but they do have the ability to see in murky waters… This device uses low-power X-rays, making it safer to use. It can see through wall and 75mm steel plates and claims to offer a better resolution than similar products.
The LEXID is a must if you want to see what’s in your moving boxes without actually opening them.

Only for the geekiest (or most paranoid): the HindSight is composed of a small camera that attaches to the handlebar or the seat post and lets the bicycler see what’s coming behind him or her. If you wonder, the manufacturer says that the system is “unaffected” by (normal?) road vibrations.
At the moment, there is no commercial product, but it is said that “a working prototype is available upon request” on the Manufacturer’s website (Cerevellum)
