This big laptop could be an interesting desktop replacement or a media center PC. I find this particular design not as classy as previous Qosmio models but, you might disagree. Here are the specs:
17” display (1920×1200) 2.2Ghz Core Duo CPU 2GB RAM Dual TV Tuner 400GB hard drive HD-DVD burner (!) $3550

Horrifying screams are coming form Xbox owners who (hardware) modded their consoles: after the most recent update modded Xbox consoles have been banned, that’s according to tehc blog Crunchgear. They mention that this has to do with the Xbox DVD-Burner hack. So far there’s no panic on the web… let’s wait and see.

This is pretty funny, but I don’t think that putting the coke on the toilet seat was smart to start with. I guess that a few Hollywood celebrities just learned something…

This photo of a device that strangely resembles a Mylo 2 FCC filing was posted on myloforums.net, since Oct 2. It’s hard to tell if the Yahoo site on the display has been “photoshoped” in there or not, but if that represents the web capabilities of the device, it is looking good. Palm continues to have difficulties and lost $9.6M this quarter. In the meantime, we speculate that some re-organization is underway internally, and just this morning Jim Goldman was speculating on CNBC that what Palm’s future could look like. Going private was one of the possibilities mentioned in the article.
Whatever the future might be, Palm needs to be shaken at the core. It seems that the company needs a deep corporate culture change, may be a culture of calculated risks. This is a perilous task, because Palm needs to make a comeback in the hardware and software design at the same time, and that my friend, is hard to pull off. We wish good luck to Palm.
I owned the Treo 600, 650 and 700w and I’d like to see Palm be cool again.

If you think that your choices are limited when it comes to high-end laptops, take a look at the (Pixel Lab) RippleNote PLK570 and its somewhat pure design (unlike its T7700 laptop…).

Owners of a gen-5 Archos portable Media Player (605 and 705) can now transfer video recordings from a Dish VIP622 or VIP722 digital video recorder via USB 2.0. The new Plug-in is supposed to be available from the Archos website, but I have not seen it yet in the download section. Now we’re hoping that other content providers will follow. Just yesterday, we told you that the G910 and G920 had been spotted on the FCC website. Today, the G920 has been spotted in an official presentation. Also, a G930 device can be seen on the roadmap at the end of 2008. The G930 is likely to be an evolution of the G920 and will also have a QWERTY keyboard. The G910 is strangely absent, but it might simply be a minor variant, built only for the U.S market. I’m just speculating here.

This SPF-83V is a high-end photo frame that can receive photos wirelessly from the web, like Windows Live Spaces… why that one? May be because this device was built with the help of Microsoft. The frame also communicates with Windows Media Player. Anyhow, it might be a cool solution that lets you manage photos for someone that is really low-tech (like grand parents).
Believe it or not, the photo-frame market is currently exploding. Yup, most are overpriced or just poorly built, but these devices are hot sellers in 2007 and that trend is likely to continue next year.

One might think that this is only for movie freaks, but I think that the thin shape (185×225×26mm) and the fact that it doesn’t look like an alarm-clock makes it an interesting… alarm clock. When the alarm rings, you’ll have to clap it to stop the buzz… ouch, I’m not sure that this is actually cool at 7am. And of course, the product photo doesn’t show the cord (but our photo gallery does). $35 from Chinavision
