Cellphone Holder

Cellphone Holder While this has been dubbed the Cellphone Holder, it is certainly capable of doing more than that. This piece of plastic helps you charge your phone while preventing it from getting stepped on should you leave your handset on the floor. I’m not sure how many people actually do that though, but by the looks of it, will you accidentally snag the charger wire and drag your cellphone onto the floor? The answer depends on the individual I guess, and the Cellphone Holder certainly looks capable of housing other devices like PDAs and iPods as well. If only there was some sort of fence built in to prevent accidental drops. The Cellphone Holder retails for $7.95.

USB Wine Dispenser

USB Wine Dispenser

Now here’s a USB-powered device that will come in handy this holiday season - the USB Wine Dispenser is powered by, you’ve guessed it - a USB port. Once plugged in, all you need to do is hold a wine glass under its tap for a glass of bubbly. It retails for $15, and unfortunately for revellers everywhere, this is but a prank device. You seriously did not think it would actually pour out wine from nowhere, did you? Choose from inner-city tap, wine, and orange colors.

Visualeyes Rayzer for safer night drive

Visualeyes Rayzer for safer night drive Driving at night can get pretty tricky, especially when your eyesight is not up to par. Visualeyes has developed the Rayzer that utilizes HID Xenon bulbs that were specially designed to match the spectrum of the human eye, reducing eye strain while making it less taxing to focus at a distance. In addition, Xenon bulbs hold the advantage of a longer average lifespan of 3,000 hours - that is roughly the equivalent of 5 years’ of driving. The kit can be bolted to the front of the car, hidden right smack in between the rear view mirror and the windshield. The benefits of this location are numerous - it won’t get stolen (unless your whole car goes), it does not interfect with your car’s aerodynamics and is capable of projecting a better angle when directing light. The intensity can also be adjusted to suit your surroundings. There is no word on pricing, but the Rayzer kit will be made available sometime early next year onwards.

Color Photo Viewer is touch sensitive

Color Photo Viewer is touch sensitive The Color Photo Viewer from Sharper Image is pretty interesting considering how it features a panel of blue touch interface buttons neatly lined up under its 7″ LCD display. Other than watching your favorite photos in an infinite loop, you can also tell the weather for the next few days thanks to a built-in weather station. Important information includes indoor and outdoor temperatures, humidity, the forecast and moon phase. In addition, the Color Photo Viewer doubles up as an alarm clock - relying on the ultra precise US Atomic Clock so you will never be more than a minute late. 128MB of internal memory and an SD memory card slot rounds off the list of features for this $199 device.

3D camera uses hand as joystick

3D camera uses hand as joystick 3DV Systems from Israel has developed the ZCam - a new 3D camera for PCs that are sensitive to motion where players are able to control on-screen action simply by flicking a finger. This is a whole new step upwards compared to what the Nintendo Wii offers at the moment. The camera tracks movements in three dimensions as it can sense depth. There is no definite price tag slapped on the ZCam yet, but when released, it will be in the region of similar video game peripherals. The ZCam will enter mass production sometime next year. I guess a boxing game using the ZCam will be much more intense compared to what you get on the Wii at this point in time, but be careful not to leave your opponent with a black eye in real life due to your over-zealousness.

Human waste to power streetlights

Human waste to power streetlights

To prove the age old adage “there is a silver lining in every cloud”, a bio-gas plant in an Indian town is capable of generating up to 3,000 watts of electricity a day - thanks to human waste. Talk about an effective way of reigning in all those gases in a beneficial manner for everybody! Guess they could probably lump all that cow poo as well to churn out more juice. This electricity generated will be used to power streetlights in the vicinity.

Desk Printing Calculator has spycam too

Desk Printing Calculator has spycam too

The Desk Printing Calculator you see here looks pretty ordinary, but it actually holds a rather devious spy camera within. I guess with all these hidden spy cameras being crammed in devices of all shapes and sizes these days, it makes perfect sense to be more wary of gifts given by seemingly kind hearted folk at the office. It could be a devilish plot to unearth skeletons in your closet for everyone else to gain an advantage over you during the next round of performance reviews. Other than the spy camera functionality, the Desk Printing Calculator works like its normal brethren, performing standard calculations while printing neat receipts. This $529 device comes with a wireless remote control.

Viliv X7 GPS navigation system

Viliv X7 GPS navigation system

Koreans have yet another GPS navigation system to choose from - the Viliv X7. Not only does it tell you where you are and how to get to where you’re going, the X7 features a DMB receiver that allows users to watch digitally broadcast channels. 3D graphics are also supported, making map reading much easier for those who can’t for the life of them interpret 2D images. The X7 comes with a 7″ touchscreen display at 800 x 480 resolution and is powered by a 600MHz AU1240 processor. The Viliv V7 has been slapped with a $540 price tag, providing 4GB of storage real estate, a standard DVD/DivX port, karaoke capability, multimedia playback and compatibility with a rear view camera. Fat chance of seeing this being exported out of Korea.
