Amazon Unbox on the Xbox 360

Amazon Unbox on the Xbox 360 Xbox 360 users can now enjoy Amazon unbox… if they find movies that they want to rent/purchase and download. Apparently, the Amazon selection is better than Xbox Live Marketplace one – I can believe it. The only additional piece to add to the puzzle is Windows Media Player 11 and the 360 should be ready to download.

Brainy Professor goes cellular

Brainy Professor goes cellular

Dr. Kawashima, the virtual brain behind the DS hit “Brain Age” has a new Publisher and it’s none other than Namco. Mostly known for their Tekken series, Namco also does a fair number of very fun games like Point Blank.

The good news is that the next games will work on mobile phones, so there’s a chance that in the near future, more people will exercise their neurons with their mobile phones.

T-Mobile Shadow Review (aka HTC Juno)

T-Mobile Shadow Review (aka HTC Juno)

When the first images of the Shadow (codenamed “Juno” by HTC, the manufacturer) started to hit the web, there was a lot of excitement around this elegant phone, powered by Windows Mobile 6, and equipped with a sliding keyboard. Even though it does not have the rumored 640×480 VGA display, hopes were high that this was going to be a great Smartphone.

From the outside, the Shadow has everything a good Smartphone should. Sure, it has a Pearl-like keyboard, but it is fine if you don’t text a whole lot (if you do, close this window and get a real QWERTY phone) and it is better than typing on a numeric pad. The display is nice, bright and the phone feels great in the hand. After a week of testing, it’s time to tell you if the T-Mobile Shadow lives up to the legend. (Photo gallery)

Jet Pack for consumers… huh?

Jet P.I (Jetpack International) wants to commercialize a jetpack for the average millionaire. For a mere $226,000, the buyer will get a Jetpack that can fly for 16km (10 miles). The price includes training, which sounds like a good idea.

“These turbine jet packs are supposed to have much greater flight time and be much safer than traditional jet pack technology. It is supposed to travel 16km without refueling.”

Apple iPhone

Time Magazine has named the iPhone number one in its annual top 10 gadgets list.

The iPhone changed the way we think about how mobile media devices should look, feel and perform. The design is exceptional inside and out: It’s got a slick glass-and-stainless steel case and an elegant touch screen loaded with eye candy. It’s an iPod and a 2-megapixel camera.

Phones account for three out of the top five spots. Numbers two through nine are the Nikon Coolpix S51c at number two. The Netgear SPH200W Wi-Fi Skype Phone, Palm Centro, Sony Handycam HDR-CX7, Samsung P2, Toshiba Portégé R500-S5004 laptop, FlyTech Dragonfly, Iomega eGo Portable Hard Drive and the Belkin N1 Vision Wi-Fi Router at number nine.

Traffic camera issue tickets to anything that moves

Traffic camera issue tickets to anything that moves

That is happening in Capitola, California. It seems that the motion-sensing mechanism was a little too sensitive in a particular camera, located at a street corner. It has been taking pictures (and sending tickets) of cars that were moving just a little, or turning right at a red light (which is legal in the U.S). Now humans spend countless hours to undo the damage, because up to 60% of the “offenders” are in fact, innocent. “It’s going nuts,” said Capitola Police Chief Richard Ehle.

There is some good in all this: in that particular intersection, accidents are down 60% and the number of violation is down to a quarter of what is was before.

T-Mobile Samsung t819 (FCC)

T-Mobile Samsung t819 (FCC)

The Samsung T819 is yet another proof that the highly-anticipated T-Mobile 3G network is opening soon (late december to early january, we think). It is a 3G slider phone aimed with multimedia and web browsing capabilities. Highlights:

1.3 Megapixel Camera Bluetooth Micro-SD slot

Many people are very excited to have a 3G alternative to Cingular. T-Mobile is usually prefered for their lower prices and better customer service.

The iPhone 2 is “almost done”

The iPhone 2 is “almost done”

Financial analysts have zeroed-in on the idea that the second generation iPhone is in its “final stage”, thanks to information provided by components suppliers (the best source of leaks). According to them, the second iPhone will more or less look the same, but will have a 3G connection (at last!) – no surprise, here.

This new iPhone should be released in the second half of next year, which is like what we previously speculated about, when we said in October that the iPhone 2 would not be launched in January 2008 at MacWorld (read: “Rumor: iPhone 2 for MacWorld 2008?”).

The analysts also believe that a first generation 16GB iPhone would appear in the first half of 2008.

What about a DS Lite improvement?

Rumored DS Lite improvement?

While it can’t be denied that the DS Lite was a huge step over the bulky DS in terms of design, there really isn’t any need for Nintendo to remain complacent. What you see here is Gizmodo’s whishlist of improvements that the current DS Lite could use - an SD memory card slot for expansion options, a faster processor, improved graphics, a built-in light sensor and accelerometer, an increased screen size to 3.5″ on both top and bottom, as well as movie playback capabilities. Hopefully all those can be included without sacrificing battery life - one of the DS’ better traits to date. And of course… it’s easier said than done ;)

Giant NES controller holds PC inside

Giant NES controller holds PC inside

While this NES PC emulator is definitely something worth drooling over, along comes a giant NES controller that has been created specially to hold a PC inside. This mammoth controller was built as a school project by students in Sweden. The entire system was made from painted sheets of Lexan, vacu-formed plastic “buttons” and hand-cut vinyl appliques to complete the look - not to mention a whole lot of love. The team had to work with a budget of approximately $300, making this labor of love worth every penny. A NES and SNES emulator running inside would be just perfect.
