Japan is hosting their first pocket films festival this weekend. The event, started in 2005 by French filmaker Jean-Charles Fitoussi, is much like a traditional film festival - expect that all of the films are created on mobile phones.
The Pocket Films Festival explores the potential for audio-visual expression that lies hidden in a “practical high-tech toy,” and through various media, aims to construct an ideal method of communication that excites our sensibilities – something not yet obvious even to artists.

Okay, so you are into the whole “Go Green” movement but you must have your electronic toys. Here is the perfect gizmo for you, the Wattson Energy Meter. One of the coolest green gadgets around, the Wattson Energy Meter is a small device that attaches to your energy meter and then transmits the energy consumption of your home to a cool wireless and portable display unit. The LED digital display located on top of this unit can tell you how many watts of electricity you are currently using. In addition the Wattson Energy Meters portable display unit has lights which change color according to your energy consumption levels. I’m pretty sure Al Gore needs one of these.

[Always On Venture Summit] I met with Isaac Levanon, CEO of 3DVU, and he showed me the Navi2Go technology. It is 3D navigation software available now in the UK for Windows Mobile devices. It will launch in the U.S in Q2 2008, and 3DVU also plan to have a Symbian version next year. The rendering is done on the client and it does not require hardware acceleration.
