Rapidrepair has an interesting photo gallery that shows the inside of the Amazon Kindle. They also show the step-by-step instruction to take yours apart, but of course, you’ll do it at your own risk

These handmade USB flash drives from ZaNa Design is guaranteed to set tongues wagging - they come encased in exotic Merbau wood complete with actual silver to give it a regal touch, while natural stones like amber and striped flint are used for the flickering LEDs in order to impress anyone in the vicinity as you cooly transfer and access data from your USB flash drive. Other than the ability to store data, each of these drives also support BIOS booting as USB Zip and USB HDD and feature Ultra-Stable and U-SAFE technologies. You’ll need to fork out a premium for these drives though, as the 1GB and 2GB models retail for $74 and $92 respectively

The FCC has shown a new UMPC device from HTC, with the ability to run both Windows Vista and Mobile. Very little information regarding the specifications are available, although from the image provided there are air vents as well as a battery pack located at the bottom section, in addition to WiFi and Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity, CDMA and EV-DO.

Windows Mobile developers have been warned that their applications should support new resolutions (up to 480×800) and dynamic portrait/landscape change (which is not really new). The table above shows all the resolutions that applications should expect and it’s pretty interesting to know that we will (finally!) get something other than 320×240 – we have been stuck to that resolution for so long, it is just weird because this is one of the most obvious improvements that one could have made without a lot of programming efforts.

Somehow, the name GG-2008 brings a wry smile to my face - the year hasn’t even begun and we’re already wishing it farewell? Anyways, geek speak aside, it looks like an Archos design has been copied and now known as the GG-2008 portable media player. Features of this device include support for AVI and MPEG-4, a 3.5″ TFT display, MP3 playback and the ability to view JPEG files. In addition, you get an e-book reader, PictBridge connectivity, AV-in and out functionality, a speaker, a USB 2.0 port, an integrated microphone and a 60GB 2.5″ hard drive. No idea on how much this costs, but like any other clone, it ought to be far cheaper than the real deal.

And in a smaller form factor to boot! The designers took the original and thanks to the power of miniaturization, managed to squeeze it into a much smaller size. Unfortunately, you will lose all semblance of its big brother’s USB hub functionality. Instead, pressing the big red button in the middle will invoke an explosion sound for kicks. This cellphone charm has been slapped with a rather ridiculous €19 price tag. I suppose you’re paying for the novelty factor more than anything else.

As if a 46″ full HD LCD TV sitting down in your living room isn’t enough to impress friends, there is now a TV from Hyundai that offers all that and more - specifically support for 3D digital broadcasting that will be due in Japan from December onwards. There is no word on pricing for this full HD 3D LCD TV, but you can bet your bottom dollar that it won’t be easy on your pockets. Any takers for this TV? So far, 3D TVs that I’ve seen so far aren’t suitable for long term viewing as it is easy to get all giddy after a short while of viewing. Hopefully, things will change for the better with this new 3D LCD TV.

AT&T has decided to do away with its $27.99 monthly no-voice plan, claiming that the offer was generated in error. While AT&T has a fair number of data-only plans for the deaf community, this service won’t be extended to the iPhone plan. I suppose this has something to do with AT&T trying to make as much profit as possible, since they still need to pay Apple a certain amount of dough on each iPhone regardless of what plan the user picks up. How is the hearing impaired community taking this bit of news? Will they do something about the situation so that corporate bigwigs get the idea that it always pays to treat their customers right?

Teresonic has just launched its new Magus compact loudspeakers, aiming to combine both audio and environmental efficiency in a single, unique casing. The Magus’ special case design enables it to deliver superior audio despite having a low wattage of just a few watts of power for each speaker. Thanks to its size, it can be used as stand-mounted, bookshelf or tabletop sources and positioned close to, or away from, walls and floors, making them perfect for tiny living spaces. The Magus speakers don’t come cheap though, retailing for $3,985 per pair while customized speaker stands will set you back by another $385.
