SEGA Initial D with Real Cars
Our friends from Akihabaranews tested SEGA’s Initial D car game in an ultimate version that uses real cars as controllers! Not only that, but the roads featured in the game are inspired from real Japanese roads. Users say that it is super-realistic, but one can’t use the parking brake, or a clutch. This is, in my opinion, the craziest arcade system from SEGA since the SEGA R360.

The MII Flashcam is one unique flashlight as it not only helps you see when everything around you is pitch black, it also features a built-in video camera that helps record whatever’s going on. Makes me wonder whether this was an inspired product after watching the Blair Witch Project. Encased within its matte-black aircraft-grade aluminum body is a high-resolution Sony system, a 1.5″ color LCD, and 1GB RAM (good for an hour of video and audio). It can switch between its Hi-Flux LEDs and night-vision mode at the touch of a button, making it the perfect device to record dastardly deeds done in the middle of the night. This water-resistant flashlight will set you back by $1,500.
The word on the street is that a $99 PS2 is on the way. Of course, Sony denies it to protect the current PS2 sales, but given that the previous PS3 rumor was spot-on, people tend to have more faith on rumors than Sony’s denials these days. 
The diminutive AHTEC Tiny X60GT UMPC does not only come with both WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, it also boasts embedded GPS navigation to help you find your way around unfamiliar territory. Just in case you think it is pretty limited in terms of functionality, you’ll be surprised to find that the X60GT also comes with an integrated digital TV module to keep you entertained as you travel around. A single charge of its battery will allow it to last up to 4 hours. Other specifications of this €700 device include a 1.2GHz processor, a 6.5″ display, a 30GB hard drive, 768MB RAM, and a sliding QWERTY keyboard.
The PocketSurfer 2 was launched just this year, taking pride in being the fastest mobile Internet surfing device in the market. Other than surf pages, DataWind has decided to work with Zoho in order to empower the PocketSurfer 2 with the ability to manipulate and edit files such as spreadsheets and documents, which can be saved and edited online. Would this make you pick up the PocketSurfer 2 when you see one? Coupled with DataWind’s patented acceleration technology, the user will basically blaze through the Internet as though you were at your desk with a speedy Internet connection, except that you can be productive even when you’re out of the office.
Casio has just released a mouse that doubles up as a label printer - a first of its kind, I believe. This Casio USB Label Mouse Printer works great for those who absolutely have the need to label just about everything in sight, but do take note that the thermal roll paper isn’t exactly cheap, retailing for $14 for a pack of 3. As for the mouse itself, it will cost you $29. Truly an interesting addition to your desktop if you are trying to kill two birds with a single stone.
Everex is fresh from bringing us a $198 Linux desktop this week, and has plans to introduced Linux laptops that will retail for less than $300 next year. These laptops will come in a wide range, with choices starting from 12.1″ all the way to 17″ displays. Needless to say, they will run on the Google OS that is built upon Ubuntu Linux 7.10 just like the recently released gPC. In addition, each laptop will include icons that offer one-click access to various websites such as Facebook and all manner of Google Web applications. No idea on the exact release date, but you can be sure at that price point, these will probably fly off the shelves in no time at all.
Somebody has gone through the trouble to apply for a patent for an “energy weapon protection device”, which means you could soon see Taser-proof gear being sold at a retail store near you. Not too sure whether this patent will be approved or not, or else the peacekeeping forces in our country will have to find a different method to neutralize threats in high tension situations.
