What happens when you have way too much time on your hands and want to spook people out this Halloween? Why, the Motion activated silly string shooter steps in.
It’s Halloween again, instead of trick or treating, why not stay home and surprise the kids looking for treats with a shot of silly string at the back of their heads. Joey Rabier shows you this quick and easy mod to drive the neighborhood kids batty, just don’t blame us if your house gets TP’d.
Pretty neat solution, don’t you think?

The LG Shine was considered as a thing of beauty during its launch, and Onda has taken design cues from the Shine itself with its new portable media player. Dubbed the Onda VX888 (8 being an auspicious number to the Chinese), this portable media player looks pretty sleek in its metallic case, and boasts MP3 and WMA playback, a 2″ display with 260k colors. Would you be caught dead carrying one of these, or would you rather stick to the tried-and-tested iPod range?

The Game Player from Shenzen Deming does not only handle all your audio and video needs (it supports MPEG4, AVI, WAV, WMA, MP3, JPEG, GIF, BMP and TXT formats), it also comes with an integrated Rockchip solution that handles all the 8-bit classics with panache. Features include a 2.8″ TFT display, a microSD memory card slot, a built-in FM radio, and a range of internal memory between 256MB and 4GB, depending on your budget. Choose from black and white colors only. Will this supplant the DS or PSP anytime soon? Most definitely not, but if you’re hankering after a quick 8-bit portable fix, this could fulfill that clarion call.

Mark certainly aims to think different by modifying his iPhone - here’s what he has to say about it.
At least I’ve now got a phone which most definately is mine. In the two weeks I used it before this project I never ever got the feeling it was my phone entirely somehow and now I do and that’s what I care about. I wonder why they ever stopped using the slogan ‘Think Different’ cause somehow that’s exactly what I’m (and everyone who owns one of those 250.000 unlocked phones (and counting…)) is doing at the moment, I guess… ^_^
I like the touch on the Apple logo at the bottom - very Newton-ish. To find out how Mark came up with this inspiration of an iPhone, head on here.

Philips put on display its dynamic daylight window at its Simplicity event last week, bringing the idea of light therapy to help folks adjust their body clocks whenever they’re traveling across different timezones in order to create a sense of balance and well-being. Heck, even when youre feeling sapped, you can always utilize this for an intensive ‘light therapy’ session for a quick boost - I’m sure it is much more healthy compared to downing your 10th cup of coffee for the day. Don’t worry too much about the power bill at the end of the month - this pocket-sized sun is extremely energy efficient and utilizes fluorescent technology to brighten up its surroundings.

A defensive vehicle powered by a rocket engine control system from Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne was successfully tested when it neutralized a target in a situation that simulated a hostile, in-bound missile. This is the seventh successful test of its kind, making it a key element in the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS). Here’s more from the press release.
A primary requirement of the system is near-instant response, which was proven again in dramatic fashion. Similar to a successful test that was conducted in April of this year, today’s intercept once again demonstrated THAAD’s performance and verified the DACS design in a demanding flight scenario. This test was conducted in the endo-atmospheric regime, confirming the system’s performance at higher altitudes.
Does this news make you sleep more soundly at night, or are you still living in fear of being within striking range of Pyongyang’s arsenal?

A portable media player with lovely looking borders around the screen does not elevate it to being great - it still has to deliver in terms of performance and user friendliness. While the PF500 from Sysbay International seems to deliver in the former, there is still a huge question mark where user friendliness is concerned. Features include a lovely 7″ TFT display with 480 x 234 resolution that is capable of displaying both 16:9 and 4:3 aspect ratios for both movies and images, an integrated speaker, an AV-out jack, a USB 2.0 port and internal flash memory of up to 2GB. I seriously wonder what the target market for products such as the PF500 is like.

Athletes do drop dead on the pitch or during training, but I suppose those unfortunate events could have been avoided if the GPS Sports system was implemented before. This device enables coaches to track not only their players’ positions and how fast they move, but also their vital statistics as well. Sounds more and more like a top-down view in a video game as those on the sidelines can pinpoint patterns in movement. In addition, the GPS Sports device can also measure the force of a hit a player receives and report it to the relevant authorities. I guess this would work great with the Xenith X1 helmet. The GPS Sports device can be attached to a vest or a series of straps as depicted here.

No, this MP3 scooter plays no music but comes with three wheels instead in the non-traditional manner - there are two independently suspended front wheels and one located behind, producing sensational handling characteristics to make it the perfect fool-proof learner/commuter bike. This 250cc single-cylinder, injected CVT scooter boasts a maximum speed of over 110kmh which is pretty decent considering the fact that the Piaggio MP3 was designed for city use. Features include a remote button on its key that opens up its underseat storage for helmets and various items and superior fuel economy (something worth considering as the price of fuel doesn’t seem to obey the law of gravity and drop, let alone stay put).
