3 Skypephone launched
October 29th, 2007
3 subscribers in the UK, take note - 3 has just launched its 3 Skypephone that enables customers to make free Skype-to-Skype calls while sending Skype instant messages from their cellphone to other Skype users for free no matter where they are - all this is made possible with a push of the single Skype button on the 3 Skypephone. This move will make 3 the first mobile operator to offer a mass market device that enables free calling over the Internet from a wireless handset, where all of Skype’s 246 million registered users are reachable without forking out even a single penny. The 3 Skypephone is a 3G-enabled handset and will be made available in the UK, Australia, Austria, Denmark, Hong Kong, Italy, Ireland, Macau and Sweden. Folks in the UK will have to fork out £49.99 on a PAYG tariff for the 3 Skypephone or pick it up for free with a contract.
