The Keypad Credit Card works differently from your standard credit card as it comes with an integrated keypad, requiring you to enter a secret password that provides a temporary one-time use passcode that is meant to authorize a transaction. Sounds like a whole lot of hassle - after all, should someone gain knowledge of your Keypad Credit Card’s PIN number, chances are that person will go off on a shopping spree almost immediately. Biometric solutions are the way to go, and it cannot come any sooner.

Samsung will be launching its Duo HD player (also known as the BD-UP5000) in the US this December in order to render the so-called format war irrelevant. This means you will be able to play nice with both HD DVD and Blu-ray titles in full HD quality. Word has it that Warner Brothers will be releasing a movie title that supports both formats sometime in the same month as well, broadening the appeal of high definition video to more people. No word on pricing though.

The Stewart Golf X3R is a remote controlled caddie that provides you with up to 8 miles of mileage on the green courtesy of its internal battery - that’s an estimated 27 holes in all. The remote control is equipped with a working limit range of 42 meters, allowing you to set both the speed and direction of the caddie. It looks much tougher than you think, featuring exceptional all-terrain maneuverability complete with a powerful motor, an integrated anti-tip wheel and high-grip tires. The Stewart Golf X3R will burn a $2,000 hole in your pocket, but if you’re a golf fanatic that is but chump change in the long run.

Thinking of sprucing up the desktop with a functional accessory that looks good at the same time? You won’t really go wrong with the Nexspeaker FS-701SW sound system. It comes in the form of a boat, featuring 7.5 watt left and right channel speakers that are integrated into the sails itself. As for the boat’s hull, it doubles up as a 15-watt woofer for a little bit more ‘oomph’ in your music. This is guaranteed to be a conversation starter, and makes to be a great ice breaker at home or at the office. The Nexspeaker FS-701SW sails into your home or office for approximately $57 a pop.

The Mobius MKII loudspeakers certainly look a world apart from other speakers on the market. While they look pretty small from the photo, it actually stands at 38″ tall and houses four drivers in its 8″ bipolar array that rests comfortable on top of the speaker to produce 360 degrees of sound. This orb will house a couple of 1″ silk dome tweeters as well as a pair of 6″ midbass drivers complete with neodynium motors that are mounted to the back. The Mobius MKII will be able to play up to 20kHz of audio. Choose from a wide range of high quality metallic and piano finishes to suit your living room when the Mobius MKII is released sometime in spring next year. While no concrete price point has been set yet, it won’t be too far off to speculate a price range between $10,000 to $15,000.

While the Laws of Robotics were designed to preserve human life at all costs, that doesn’t mean it can’t give you the one finger salute whenever you mistreat it. Researchers at Japan’s National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT) have successfully developed an autonomous humanoid robot which is capable of recognizing and using body language in order to get the message across. This would bode well as the robot tries to communicate with young children, the elderly as well as computer-illiterate. It is packed with technology that enables it to observe, recognize and remember human behavior, but chances are it is still a long time in coming before you can get something like the T-800’s caliber in real life.

The Moshi Monster Mopods are interesting phone charms to have, flashing and spinning wildly whenever it detects an incoming call or text message. Looking cute and alerting you isn’t the limit of its functionality, as each Moshi Monster is equipped with a special “unlock” code that will be able to grant you exclusive access to a virtual world, where you take care of it just like a Tamagotchi of old. Playing daily puzzles will earn you ‘Rox’ that can be used to purchase accessories and home improvement ideas for your Monster. In addition, you’ll be able to interact with other Moshi Monster owners online and read their blogs while receiving mail. The Moshi Monster Mopod is compatible with GSM networks including T Mobile, O2, Orange, Virgin and Vodafone. Too bad for subscribers of the Three network. Each Moshi Monster Mopod retails for £4.95.

The FCC database has just registered the wireless Les Paul guitar that will ship with the PS3’s version of Guitar Hero 3. Nothing groundbreaking here, other than the fact that you will still need a USB dongle for this to work. Gamers will be able to pair up to a quartet of such controllers, and these will feature interchangeable faceplates. Looks like things are picking up for the PS3 this holiday season with the release of highly rated games.

Laptop Mag has reviewed the recently released Asus Eee PC 701, and here’s their verdict.
Overall performance was pretty snappy, even though this machine uses a Celeron processor. Most apps loaded quickly, and the 512MB of RAM is more than sufficient for an operating system with such little overhead. A mere 4GB of storage space tells you that the Eee PC isn’t going to be your primary digital media vault out of the box, but you can easily augment that capacity with an external drive. Plus, that 4GB solid state drive can withstand being dropped by Junior. Asus is forging a new class of device with the Eee PC. Yes, you can get a laptop with a bigger screen and better specs for the same amount of money, but this machine wasn’t designed to go toe-to-toe with bargain-basement Windows laptops. It’s an excellent secondary computer for households with children, and it’s a very good primary computer for novice PC users who never had the time or patience to master an operating system.
In a nutshell, it makes computing affordable to every strata of society minus a learning curve.
