Picture-passwords the way forward
I’m sure many of us have forgotten our passwords once or twice before, what more with the number of accounts that we have to remember these days. Scientists have developed a new kind of software that uses pictures in place of letters and numbers for security codes, and hopes to expand this idea into other areas to prevent unauthorized entry by fraudsters. Not only that, this development could make it easier for those who experience language difficulties such as dyslexia. Such picture-passwords are drawn over a background, where the computer will remember the actual number of strokes used, the way the image was started as well as the order in which they were made. While a picture is said to be worth a thousand words, a few characters would suffice here in lieu of traditional passwords.

The Ownzic IV20 measures 90mm x 38mm x 12 mm and tips the scales at 40 grams. You can pick up this relatively affordable stocking stuffer for $113, getting 2GB of storage space in the process.
Unlike joggers or cyclists, most swimmers don’t have the advantage of having some kind of musical accompaniment while they sweat it out. The Finis SwimP3VT changes that notion for good, using bone conduction technology to transfer sound vibrations from the cheek bone to the inner ear. This unique MP3 player was specially designed to be worn with goggles as well as snorkeling masks. The only downside would be its limited 256MB memory and the lack of a memory card slot. Interested parties can pick up the Finis SwimP3VT for $179.99.
Koreans will receive yet another high end handset in the form of the Sky IM-S240K. This cellphone will see a limited release in Korea only, so the rest of the world will just have to sit back and weep. This beauty of a slider handset comes with a 2 megapixel camera, HSDPA connectivity at a theoretical 7.2Mbps (good luck achieving a figure near that in real world usage), audio and video playback support, DMB capability for watching TV on-the-go, and an electronic dictionary among others. The Psion Teklogix iKon smartphone is certainly one tough handset, featuring a generous 3.7″ VGA display, an integrated camera, GPS functionality, Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity, in addition to a barcode scanner - and all of these are powered by Windows Mobile 6 (choose from Classic, Professional or CE.net 5 versions). This ain’t no dainty flower as the iKon is tough enough to shrug off a five-foot drop to concrete, is water- and sand-resistant - great gift for dad if he is a Navy SEAL. No idea on how much it costs, but it should have a four digit price tag attached to it when the iKon rolls out this December.
