French Maid PC

French Maid PCNow isn’t this one of the weirdest PC case mods you’ve ever seen? It features the waist area of a traditional French maid that actually consists of a mini ATX case complete with a trio of 3.5″ hard drives and a slim CD-ROM inside. I know we turn on our PCs every single day, and it is nice to see a PC return the favor at long last. No idea on how to get one though.

MPIO MO100 looks familiar

MPIO MO100 looks familiar If the MPIO MO100 gives you a sense of deja vu, it could be due to the fact that it looks like Grundig’s MPixx 2000 that was released earlier this year. That feeling aside, let’s take a look at what the MO100 has on offer. It handles audio, video and picture formats (MP3, WMA, WAV, SMV, JPEG, and BMP), although the 1.8″ display isn’t too hot when it comes to watching video for hours on end. Other features include FM radio recording and voice recording functionality. The MPIO MO100 currently comes in a 1GB model only, although word has it that 2GB and 4GB models are in the works.

IO-Data BRD-M4 Blu-ray burner

IO-Data BRD-M4 Blu-ray burnerIO-Data will be putting up new Blu-ray burners for sale this November, where all of them will retail for slightly less than €400. You will find SATA connection in all but one of these new burners, where the external model relies on USB 2.0 instead. Both BD-R and BD-R DL can be burnt in 4x; and all of them are compatible with both Windows and Mac OS X platforms. Guess now would be a good time to upgrade if you want to migrate your data backup solutions. Supported Blu-ray recording formats include BD-R and BD-R DL x4, BD-RE and BD-RE DL x2, and BR-ROM x4.

Mobile data card does security too

Mobile data card does security tooSprint Nextel and Alcatel-Lucent have teamed up with plans to release a mobile data card that is capable of acting as a notebook security mechanism as well. The SprintSecure Laptop Guardian comes with its own power supply, and will render any laptop useless when removed. This is made possible courtesy of an internal processor, memory, proprietary operating system and an SD memory card slot that enforces policies that limit information which can be downloaded by users no matter the route taken to hook up to the Internet. Not only that, this card comes with GPS functionality that enables an IT administrator to locate it as well as the laptop in the process. Sounds like a great invention as you can never be too safe these days.

Spy Clock sees (nearly) all

Spy Clock sees (nearly) all The Spy Clock is one device that you would do well to have in the office if you’re working in a cuble farm. Often times, there are colleagues who might sneak up on you while you’re typing that resume - making the shiny, convex, glass mirror that doubles up as the face of the clock useful for detecting whoever’s behind you. It is powered by a single AA battery and retails for $25. I’ve a cheaper solution though - just get a vanity mirror and prop it up against your cubicle wall.

MIXA USB flash drive

MIXA USB flash driveCassettes are so yesterday but somehow they’re still around these days. The MIXA USB flash drive takes on the form of a cassette as a tribute to the once all-conquering audio format that the world knew and loved. While it is interesting to look at, the MIXA isn’t really all that practical when you think about it. Part of its appeal would probably lie in the choice to interactively design a custom lable for the tape. This 1GB USB flash drive will retail for $40 that includes worldwide shipping, a unique sleeve, a set of MIXA stickers, and a USB extension cable.

Bendable OLED display from Samsung

Bendable OLED display from SamsungSamsung has achieved yet another first by introducing the first bendable OLED display in the work at the FPD International 2007 expo. This 4.3″ display comes with a resolution of 480 x 272 pixels, a brightness level of 200 cd/m2, and a contrast ratio of 1,000 to 1. While it looks operational already, Samsung officials have not released a hint on its actual development status as well as the time where it would go mainstream. Looks like a pretty neat idea - imagine rolling open your phone’s display to a larger size whenever you want to enjoy movies on-the-go.
