Citizen i:Virt watches does Bluetooth

Citizen i:Virt watches does Bluetooth Citizen has just launched its new Bluetooth-enabled i:Virt watches that target the younger and hip crowd, as older folk would probably settle for something with a little bit more steel and substance. Available in a quartet of colors, each i:Virt watch comes with a metal-banded sibling and sports a color LCD display, a phone battery meter, caller ID support, signal display, call history list, and an email viewer. The battery life of 5 days (at best) with Bluetooth turned on is pretty impressive, and the water-resistant design makes it all the more attractive. Unfortunately, no concrete price details are available as at press time.

New Xbox rumor

New Xbox rumor Word on the street has it that Microsoft is currently working on a new Xbox that boasts an integrated HD DVD drive, dual HDTV tuners, an Electronic Programme Guide, and a Zune dock. Could this rumor be the birth pangs of the Xbox 720? Only time will tell, but it does go to show that traditional game media such as DVDs aren’t adequate any more when it comes to high definition. I just can’t wait to see how this will be able to impact the so-called “format wars” should the rumor actually be fact. Time to start saving up, boys and girls.

Sonos sees software upgrade

Sonos sees software upgrade Sonos aims to make its Digital Music System all the more appealing to everyone by being compatible with Best Buy’s Digital Music Store (BBDMS) and the revamped Napster. Not only that, the company has released a new software update which throws in a bunch of interesting and useful features such as search. Not only that, the company has also confirmed the ZoneBridge BR100 networking accessory that creates an interface between the Sonos system and your home network, as well as covering Sonos dead spots in your mansion. It will come with a bunch of Ethernet ports to work with other wired networking products like the Xbox 360 and TiVo. The Sonos ZoneBridge can be picked up for a Benjamin. Sounds like a good time to pick up a Sonos system.

Sharp offers new ASV LCD

Sharp offers new ASV LCDSharp is on the forefront of mobile technology yet again, with the intention to sell a new generation of ASV LCD displays for cellphone use that come with an integrated 1Seg tuner for TV buffs. This new display will utilize similar technology as those found in Sharp’s vaunted AQUOS TV line-up, boasting a contrast ratio of 2,000 to 1 and QVGA resolution on a tiny 2.2″ LCD display. Thickness is not an issue either, as this Sharp ASV LCD measures a mere 0.68mm thin. Sounds like next year would be a good time to pick up a handset.

Touch Commander released for WM

Touch Commander released for WM HTC’s TouchFLO interface has certainly picked up its fair share of rave reviews, and to have it cloned in the form of Touch Commander must surely mean something. This “unique application” is meant to control PDAs and smartphones by recognizing and responding to both touch and sweep of a finger across the screen. Touch Commander provides one-touch access to phone calls, emails, text messages, calendar, appointments, applications, and other frequently used programs. Compared to TouchFLO, Touch Commander goes one up by being customizable along with the ability to add or change applications launched from it. Touch Commander is compatible with WM 5.0 and WM 6 touchscreen devices, but requires Microsoft’s .NET Compact Framework 2.0 as a pre-requisite. It is available for $14.95 today.

i-mate to Introduce a “Foleo” for The Ultimate Series

i-mate to Introduce a “Foleo” for The Ultimate Series

i-mate plans to create a “shell” that would feature a 1024×768 display (7 inch?), a keyboard and a battery that can last (up to) 80 hours, turning the Ultimate smart phones into a comfortably sized PDA powerful enough to do serious productivity work, yet much smaller and lighter than a laptop. If you need to, you can also remote control your home/office PC with Remote Desktop.

However, there’s a price to this. Expect the “shell” to cost around $300 in addition to the $600-$800 of the Smartphone itself. It’s a little expensive, but for someone who mainly does email and who really cares about portability, that might sound pretty good.

In short, that’s the Foleo done right. Unlike the Foleo, the i-mate “shell” doesn’t contain any processing units or memory – that’s why it will be much cheaper. (Related: Foleo cancelled)

Hitachi Launches 35mm-Thick LCD TVs

Hitachi Launches 35mm-Thick LCD TVs

Called Wooo, the new LCD TV Series from Hitachi is impressively thin. All three models have only 35mm thin which is quite impressive for commercial products (Samsung also “woooed” the crowd with its uber-thin displays). Technical revolution? Not really, most of the electronics was displaced into an external box that could also contain a digital video recorder (DRV). Ok, that’s cheating, but I like the idea. Available in “early 2008”.

i-mate Ultimate 8502 Hands-On

i-mate Ultimate 8502 Hands-On

We had the opportunity to play with the Ultimate 8502 from i-mate, here are the highlights:

Windows Mobile 6 Pro Top-notch connectivity (WiFi, 3.5G) Integrated GPS Powerful chips: 520Mhz processor, NVIDIA Graphics 2.6” QVGA (320×240) touch display

The display is much larger when compared to a Samsung Blackjack (read review), which is great, but the keyboard is less roomy. I thought that the i-mate’s 8502 keyboard was tight but “OK”, however several people around complained about it – big fingers, you’ve been warned! One thing that we agreed on was the “click” of the keyboard was very nice. Complete specs, i-mate site

Smart Pen Helps Diabetics

Smart Pen Helps Diabetics

Many patients don’t take their medication on time, or over-medicate because they don’t remember when they had some for the last time. This intelligent cap helps diabetic patients to take insulin at the right time by using a simple color code.

Green: Should take the medication Red: Don’t take it yet

Each time the cap is removed, it is considered that an injection was done and the cap will remember that no further medication should be injected for some pre-determined time. Bang & Olufsen, better known for their Hi-Fi equipment, designed this system.
