Nakamichi Kimono 52-inch LCD TV

Nakamichi Kimono 52-inch LCD TVNakamichi gets inspired by the traditional Japanese dress known as kimonos and has released a 52″ LCD TV that shares the same name, taking on the concept of kimono. Other than the aesthetically pleasing design that seems to flow so easily, the Kimono LCD TV supports a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels (full HD in all probability), a 178-degree viewing angle, and a contrast ratio of 5,000 to 1. The price has yet to be disclosed, but expensive would probably be a very apt description.

Connecty piles on the bling

Connecty piles on the blingConnecty has just released a cellphone that comes covered in diamonds, and I suppose this is one handset that you could pawn off should you run into some financial trouble. On showcase at the Hong Kong Electronics Fair, this candybar cellphone looks as though it was designed after the Vertu Signature Cobra handset. No idea on how much it costs nor when will it be available, but this is definitely one way you could soothe the anger of a woman scorned.

Sleuth ECG Monitoring System

Sleuth ECG Monitoring System Now here’s an interesting ECG system - the Sleuth ECG Monitoring System that uses wireless technology to monitor a patient’s ECG to detect possible diagnosis of arrhythmias and prevention of syncopal episodes. The entire system consists of a High Definition Implantable Loop Recorder (HD-ILR), a Personal Diagnostic Manager, a Base Station and a Monitoring Center that is staffed round the clock. The High Definition Implantable Loop Recorder is a small, thin device that constantly monitors the electrical activity of the heart, while the Personal Diagnostic Manager is a hand-held, multipurpose device that automatically retrieves and stores relevant ECG data from the HD-ILR. Not only that, it relays relevant information to the monitoring center in a secure manner. This makes healthcare all the more easy for everyone, including the patient and doctor.

Samsung displays cutting edge TFT LCDs

Samsung displays cutting edge TFT LCDs Samsung has introduced a handful of TFT LCD displays that are on the cutting edge of technology, with a 40″ full HD LCD TV panel that measures a mere 10mm thin. An LCD TV that size which shares the same profile as 10″ to 20″ LCD desktop monitors was unheard of just last year, but the engineers at Samsung have managed to do the impossible. The bezel has also been reduced from 30mm to 14.6mm, while the panel utilizes LED backlight that reproduces 92% of the NTSC standard for color saturation while boasting low power consumption of less than 90 watts. Notebook users are not left out by Samsung either, with premium LCD panels with a 16:9 aspect ratio that will come in 16″ and 18.4″ screen sizes. Image courtesy of Engadget.

Hello Kitty plays rough

Hello Kitty plays roughDon’t think that Hello Kitty is all cute and harmless as she packs more than a punch whenever she chooses to bear her claws, and this time round we have a Hello Kitty-endorsed AK47. I wonder which underfunded terrorist would want to use this as their weapon of choice, since it bears none of the hallmarks of a tough, manly warrior. Best to place this in a museum instead of in the hands of a looney.
