If you want to bring home a little bit of the craziness found in every Simpsons episode, why not pick up the Napping Homer Phone? This unique home phone sees Homer lounging about in his extremely comfortable chair (every man of the house should be in possession of one), and whenever you receive an incoming call, Homer will actually wake up and stretch while muttering a classic Homer line (there is half a dozen that are spouted at random). Pricing ranges between $36 and $44, depending on the quantity you pick up. Definitely a conversation starter in any home.

The Teleglass T4-N wearable monitor is a new kind of video glasses that certainly take the king where performance is concerned. It weighs a mere 30 grams, boasting titanium frames by eyeglass designer Kazuo Kawasaki, and was developed with Masunaga Optical in a tag-team affair. You can hook up the Teleglass T4-N to any NTSC-capable video player (iPods included), enjoying images that are delivered straight to the eye courtesy of tiny monitors located behind the lenses. The 640 x 480 screen resolution might not sound like much, but it simulates the effect of watching a massive 45″ screen from just half a dozen feet away. In addition, you can adjust each monitor for an optimal picture to reduce eye strain in the long run. As for audio, it is delivered via a pair of frame-mounted earphones. The Teleglass T4-N wearable monitor is priced rather heftily though, retailing for $1,150 each. Suddenly Myvu’s range of video eyewear seems dirt cheap in comparison.

Asus has released its new concept known as Hardware for Webware, embedding a tiny Linux distro complete with FireFox and Skype installed within the ROM, taking a mere 15 seconds to send you surfing on the Internet from the computer’s off status. Even better is the fact that this OS does not have any access to the system’s hard drive(s) at all, virtually eliminating worries about spreading viruses and spyware. Unfortunately, this rather brilliant idea isn’t too common as it is currently built into higher end motherboards. Perhaps sometime in the near future, manufacturing costs would’ve come down to make this Hardware for Webware a reality across every single motherboard sold.

Everyone working at a computer for long hours know that having adequate support for their wrists is important if they want to keep RSI at bay. The Baguette keyboard cushion definitely helps, coming in the form factor of a freshly baked baguette from France minus the delicious smell. It measures 1″ x 13½” x 2½” and helps keep your arms positioned at the right angle courtesy of its soft, cushioning cell foam. You can pick up this inedible piece of computer peripheral for $19.95.

It is interesting to note that a donkey cart is already environmentally friendly, but our friends in Africa has gone one step further by introducing solar-powered Human and Animal Powered Vehicles, also known as HAPPYs. The HAPPY uses a traditional donkey cart as a platform, boasting a solar panel and a 12-volt battery on its roof. The amount of energy harvested is more than enough to power a cell antenna, water filtration system, emergency lights, and a small neon tube. Guess it doesn’t get any better than this, as African families in remote areas will soon be able to take advantage of having electricity in the middle of nowhere long after the sun has set. The developer of this concept is currently looking for more funds to complete the project’s first phase - any takers out there reading this?

We all know that there are plenty of choices these days where massage chairs are concerned, but researchers at Japan’s Waseda University have gone the extra mile by developing a massage-giving robot known as WAO-1. Originally designed by Atsuo Takanish, this robot was meant to help in the rehabilitation of people with jaw-related medical conditions that required massage. Guess it didn’t take too long before he figured out that WAO-1 is more than capable, and hence making it a suitable candidate to give tired Japan citizens a good rubdown after a long, stressful day at work. The WAO-1 boasts golf-ball-like appendages that interact with six sensors in the robot’s arms in order to give a thorough massage when required. Hopefully the electronics that control the pressure system won’t go awry lest you end up in a world of pain instead.

The FLOTspotting robot concept, also known as YABO, from Kim Yeong Seong was designed specifically to keep lonely unmarried persons company. I suppose if you wanted good company, you could always get a dog but at least with the YABO there is no poop to collect, and you don’t have to get dragged out of bed at insanely early hours just to bring Fido out for his daily morning walk. It sometimes makes me wonder - is the pet king while its owner is a slave? At least with the YABO you can just ignore it or even stop charging it once it runs out of juice. The YABO might not be able to keep you warm during those cold, lonely nights, but it is capable of monitoring home appliances and electronics, maintaining temperature and humidity while expressing itself by rotating and changing the color of its face.

The Logic3 i-Station Concert is one unsettling speaker dock system that just screams (design-wise, anyway) without having you turn it on. Heck, it looks like the product of a love union between a lighted dressing room make-up mirror and a speaker system draped in black. The i-Station Concert doesn’t exactly break new ground, but performs decently enough with its eight aluminum cones that are important in delivering HiFi quality sound. Do you think this would have looked better in white?

Halloween is just around the corner, and it is no surprise to see somebody take their video game passion and using it in a creative manner - in this case, carving out Mario’s mug on a lantern. It would be cool to include one of these Mario Sound Drop Keychains inside for a more authentic experience. Its-a-me, Mario, and I’ve-a-come to haunt you!
