Tasers deemed “safe” by study
October 9th, 2007
Researchers from Wake Forest University conducted this study and looked at data from about 1000 cases to find that in only three instances the recipient had suffered injuries, two of which from falling after being electrocuted. In the third instance the investigation could not draw a relationship between the taser and the injury. According to the report, most cases resulted in no injuries and most injuries are minor (cuts, contusions), although it is clearly mentioned that that tasers are weapons that can cause serious injury or death. The question is: does the risk outweigh the “benefits” of the device? If one tells me that a taser can often replace a firearm - sure, but the debate is far from over. What’s your take?
