Asus launches Xonar audio add-on

Asus has now expanded their line of products with PCI-E and USB versions of the Xonar, an add-on audio peripheral for computers. The Xonar DX2 is a PCI-E version that targets both hardcore PC gamers as well as home theater buffs. Features include translating DirectX surround-sound and hardware-accelerated audio processing to the DS3D GX extension of the Xonar D2X driver. This results in Windows Vista-powered gamers to frag in style without losing Direct3D or EAX audio mid-game. There is no need for special installation or specific support from game developers, so it works right out of the box. It boasts a dynamic range of 118 db across all 7.1 channels, supports Dobly and DTS and on-card digitizing of analog audio sources. The Xonar U1 boasts nearly same capabilities, catering for notebook users instead. Pricing and availability of both are currently unknown.
