Here’s yet another time waster for you office folk - the mini Whac-a-Mole desktop game. Dubbed “Whack It”, you’ll need a working USB port nearby if you’re to while the time away, waiting for the clock to strike 5 so that you can head towards the nearest watering hole. These tiny guys aren’t real moles, but represented by red, yellow, and green LEDs. All you need to do is tap the illuminated LED with your fingertip in order to test your reflexes. As the immersion level of such a distraction drops drastically after a few tries, I’ll stick to my New Super Mario Bros minigame, thank you very much. Still, if you want to pick this up your that hot but bored secretary, the Whack It desktop game retails for £12.49.

Mia Kim from Popgadget has requested for a condom dispenser to be included in her dream cellphone that targets females, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Other goodies include a vibrator, a corkscrew to get that bottle of bubbly opened, an atomizer, and a home pregnancy test.
I think she forgot to include a taser of some sort to keep those weirdos at bay. Would the fifth iteration of the iPhone finally include all those Holy Grail materials? Only time will tell, but my money is against it.

Nokia and NAVTEQ have reached an agreement with the former acquiring the latter for $78 per share, including outstanding options for a cool $8.1 billion. What does this acquisition mean for the end users (we all know that stockholders who cash out now would’ve made some sort of profit)? For starters, splashing out such a huge amount shows the seriousness of the Finnish cellphone manufacturer to include GPS navigation in most, if not all, Nokia handsets in the near future. With continuing chip integration making this possible, be prepared to ditch that personal GPS navigation system in favor of a Nokia cellphone. Hopefully the economy of scale won’t add too much premium over such GPS-enabled handsets in the future - it’d be nice to see an entry level cellphone direct you to the nearest Starbucks so that you can get your game on with your DS Lite.

Looks like the Nintendo Wii has found yet another use other than keeping the masses entertained - a local rehab institution in Minneapolis is currently using the Wii to rehabilitate stroke victims with some degree of success. According to a 77-year old victim, he claims the Wii is extremely motivational and gives you the illusion that you’re progressing even if you’re not, putting you in a better frame of mind. He has used it to recover movement in his hand and feet, which goes to say a lot about the Wii’s regenerative powers. In other news, we’re still waiting for Folding@HOME on the PS3 to cure cancer. The next thing you know, the Nintendo Wii will be able to bring peace to the Middle East and turn North Korea into a democracy.
Publisher’s note: the man in the photo might get a stroke if he continues for too long. He’s probably not *recovering* from one.

The Grand Cinema C3X LINK from SIM2 prides itself in being one of the first 3-chip projectors that adopts the new generation HD2+ DarkChip™3, also known by its more common name, the DC3 chip. This svelte 3-chip projector measures a mere 435mm x 190mm x 430mm and weighs just 11kg, coming in half the case size when compared to similar projectors in its class. This is definitely a projector that is meant to be shown off in your living room and not stowed away in some cabinet, and SIM2 certainly delivers when it comes to the C3X Link’s design. There is no word on pricing at this point in time. More specifications are available after the jump.

While plenty of people are immersed in the world of Second Life, this real-life simulation game ups the ante when it comes to realism by allowing job interviews to be conducted in a virtual environment. Global consultancy giant Accenture has already started doing so in Second Life after a series of job fairs in the virtual game. Well I’d be extremely wary if I were the Human Resource Manager for Accenture as it is common knowledge that someone with the handle Sexy16 normally turns out to be someone with man boobs, a big fat waist, is living on social welfare and eats nothing but pizza and drink beer all day long. If you were in charge of recruitment in your company, would you use Second Life as an interview avenue?
