Flat Panel Displays to star at CEATEC JAPAN 2007
October 1st, 2007

With only one day left before CEATEC JAPAN 2007 officially opens, Japan’s TV manufacturers are already indicating a slew of new flat panel displays will be the attention grabbers at the show. Hitachi is saying they’ll have a 1.9 mm 32 inch LCD model to wow the crowds as well as a “hybrid” 47 inch LCD projector/panel display claiming a 8,000,000:1 contrast ratio in a dark room. JVC is weighing in with a 3.7 cm thick 42 inch LCD model. However, CEATEC is also about parts for CE devices, and New Japan Radio will be showing an amplifier IC for high-end audio devices using a lead frame made from 99.99% copper. No, it probably won’t be in the next iPod, but it should make for a killer surround sound amplifier. [CEATEC coverage by Tech ON!]
