Ruffneck Zone 1 Explosion-Resistant Computer
September 24th, 2007
Computer Dynamics just announced their ultra-rugged Zone 1 computer. While most rugged computers (think toughbook) are designed to survive a drop or a splash of water, this one is certified to survive much harsher conditions such as sparks or explosions.
Obviously, it can also resist extreme cold and function normally in temperature as high as +60° C. It’s not really a powerful computer though: it is powered by a Pentium M 1.6Ghz with 2GB of memory and has a 15” flat-screen. I guess that a slower but functioning computer always beats a dead one.
