Samsung J610 Slider Phone

Samsung J610 Slider Phone

Samsung has noticed that shiny phones were selling like hotcakes, so it came up with the J610, a shiny slider that looks like an update from previous models. It’s not aimed at the enthusiast market, given that the specification list does not show anything extraordinary:

2MP CameraGPRSMP3/AAC/…more capabilityPrice: 235 Euros (probably free with a new contract)

I think that Samsung should stop producing 150 phones a year and focus on fewer models with the great design that they’re capable of.

Immobilizer Cell Phone Stun Gun

A Shocking Call

The Immobilizer Cell Phone Stun Gun is a generic cell phone look-a-like that can shock someone with up to 900,000 volts (which is really high for a stun gun) - Comforting information!

At issue is the fact that many people might mistake it to be an exactly cell phone, but hopefully the LIGHT and STUN buttons should puzzle someone before they put it up to their ear. Also included: a built-in flashlight and 12 LED lights( if you ever find yourself in a dark cave), a holster case and batteries.

Install iPhone apps on the iPod Touch

Install iPhone apps on the iPod Touch

Many were disappointed by the fact that Apple had “castrated” critical iPhone features in the iPod Touch, like Mail and Calendar but hacktheipodtouch.com has guides to install these applications (at your own risk, of course). They also show how to install the Maps and Weather apps.

Getting the actual application files could be tricky for users who don’t own an iPhone. If you do own an iPhone and an iPod touch, I would ask: why? Happy installing, let us know if it worked for you. There’s a forum here too.

VDO Dayton GPS System with DVB-T TV

VBO Dayton GPS System with DVB-T

A new GPS navigation system from European company VBO Dayton will include a DVB-T receiver, to receive over-the-air television channels. DVB-T is a broadcasting technology widely used in Asia and Europe. The PN 4000 has a 4.3” screen and the PN 6000 has a 5.3″ one – both use a widescreen format. Sorry North American folks – DVB-T is not yet widely used around here, although there are many trial with DVB-H. For European folks, this system could be nice for road-trippers who would have a GPS and a TVin the same device.

Other features include an SD slot for videos, music, and photos, etc. If you want to use it as a hands-free cell phone device, you can also add-on a Bluetooth module.

Launchpad Professional Golf Simulator

Launchpad Professional Golf Simulator

A new product package from Costco aims to bring Golf into your living or office. The Launchpad Professional Golf Simulator is a small patch of fake grass with a tethered golf ball on it. The actual simulator works with PC, Mac, and PS2 (and with Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2003 through 2006), but the Tiger Woods game that is bundled with the simulator will only work on PC. Simply take a golf club of your own and start swinging away.

The simulator will convert the real-life shot to parameters for the game’s simulation. Factors include club head speed, angle, and path of the shot. An 8 foot USB cable is included — And lefties don’t worry, both right and left handed people can use it.
