SL2 Survival Tool

SL2 Survival Tool

If you’re constantly roughing it out, the SL2 Survival Tool could be a potential lifesaver. This extremely tough, compact, and lightweight tool features a sturdy, serrated ‘A’ grade blade (won’t beat Wolverine’s adamantium claws anytime soon though) as well as firesteel that lights fires in a pinch despite being wet courtesy of a 3,000°C hot spark. Other features include a waterproof torch, a rescue whistle, and a belt clip. Sounds like this £34.99 tool is all you need the next time you go out camping. Just remember that the firesteel can last for approximately 3,000 strikes before you need a new one, which should be plenty to last through your lifetime.

Taffy the Pony

Taffy the Pony

Scratching your head as to what to get for your daughter’s upcoming birthday? Perhaps Taffy the Pony would keep her happy, bringing an interactive video game to the living room that requires the player to sit on this inflatable, ride-on horse and control it from there. There are half a dozen games pre-loaded to keep you occupied, where the motion-sensing reins do a great job in translating movement into its equivalent on the big screen. You won’t need a High Definition for this basic video game though, which is great news for those who are still stuck with fat, chunky CRTs. Taffy the Pony requires no cleaning up after and retails for $69.95. Oh yeah, you won’t have to turn blue trying to inflate it as each purchase comes with a foot pump.

Sunglasses Camera with Personal DVR

Sunglasses Camera with Personal DVR

Check out this pair of Sunglasses Camera with Personal Digital Video Recorder, enabling you to film whatever you’re currently looking at. The design doesn’t suit everyone though as it looks rather huge and blocky, so younger folks might avoid this in order to preserve their street cred. Features include an integrated color monitor, a speaker, 32MB of internal memory, and an SD/MMC memory card slot for a much larger storage capacity. You’ll have to dig deep for this one though as it retails for £816.63 after taxes.

New ROKR E8 photo leak

New ROKR E8 photo leak

Motorola has a brand new ROKR E8 up their sleeves, and this handset comes in a truly unique design that looks like the Q9h when viewed from the side. The front portion features a rather strange-looking keyboard, where the keys are mainly “buds” over the flat surface and characters need to be illuminated in order to be seen. Word on the street has it that the E8 will run on Linux-Java OS and comes with 2GB of internal memory, a microSD memory card slot, a 2 megapixel camera, and stereo Bluetooth connectivity. Apparently, in the standby mode, there will be standard navigation keys and numeric buttons which are hidden whenever the multimedia player is opened. No idea on how much it costs nor when will it be released.

MPIO rolls out new PMPs

MPIO rolls out new PMPsMPIO has taken the opportunity to unveil a bunch of new electronics at IFA 2007, bringing the MG200 to succeed the MG100 that sees an extended audio playback time of 25 hours as well as the inclusion of MPEG4 and AVI file format compatibility. As for the MG300 as featured on the right, it boasts dual circle controls as well as format support similar to the MG200 but comes in the more traditional PMP form factor. Features include a 2.4″ LCD display, an integrated FM tuner, recording capabilities, 4GB of internal memory, and an SD/SDHC memory card slot. The MD100 shares many similar styling cues with the MG100 but uses a mere monochrome display (almost unheard of these days) and caters to your audio needs with MP3, WMA (DRM), and OGG support.
