Venzero to unveil LINQ

Venzero to unveil LINQ Venzero has another new portable media player that will be unleashed upon the world at IFA 2007, known as the LINQ. The name itself tells just as much - you can expect WiFi connectivity to come with the LINQ so that you can tune in to Internet radio stations for free in the vicinity of a hotspot. Alternatively, you can always use the LINQ to stream music from your computer - great if you’re constipated and need some soothing tunes to shift that log with plenty of time to kill. The Venzero LINQ features 4GB of internal memory, a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes, a 2.4″ TFT 262k color display, an FM tuner, and voice recording capability. It will retail for $199 when released next month.

Charmr concept device looks cool

Charmr concept device looks coolBring some cool to diabetic patients with the Charmr concept device which is essentially an amalgamation of an insulin pump and monitor in a single device. Not only does it make delivery of insulin much easier, diabetics will be able to enjoy an aesthetically pleasing experience instead of the bulky and uncomfortable solutions of yore. The Charmr does away with test kits and finger pricking to test one’s blood since the user is constantly being monitored to be aware of his/her blood sugar levels. Take note that the Charmr is still a starting point and there are plenty more angles to consider such as the size of the insulin reservoir, battery life, and pump size before a final, commercially viable version is released.

LG Prada gets Midas touch

LG Prada gets Midas touch

Talk about extravagant - the LG Prada fashion handset is already a beauty on its own, but now it has been dipped in 24 karat gold for an added touch of elegance. The price has not skyrocketed to ridiculous proportions just yet (partly because there are no diamonds on it), but it will still cost a rather hefty $989. Other than the external changes (for the better), everything else about the LG Prada remains the same, from the included Web browser to an email client and MP3 player. Would you be getting one of these for Christmas?

Nikon unveils D3, D300 DSLR cameras

Nikon unveils D3, D300 DSLR cameras

Nikon has just upped the ante in the world of DSLR cameras by unveiling the D3 and D300 models, giving professional photographers even more headaches when it comes to choosing their next purchase. The D3 is a 12.1 megapixel monster that features a new FX format full-frame CMOS sensor, a 3″ LCD viewfinder, a couple of CF storage slots (neat!) for backup and copying purposes, and a superior response time that shoots up to 9 frames per scond. The more affordable D300 features 21.3 megapixel resolution and the same 3″ LCD viewfinder, using CF as the storage medium of choice albeit having only one of such slots. The D3 and D300 will retail for $4,999.95 and $1,799.95 respectively.

Xbox 360 Wireless Racing Wheel recalled

Xbox 360 Wireless Racing Wheel recalled

Looks like everything but the sales of the Xbox 360 are burning up. After Microsoft revealed the high failure rate of its console, we now have news that even the Xbox 360 Wireless Racing Wheel stands the risk of overheating whenever the AC/DC power supply is used. There are currently 230,000 of these in the homes of gamers, and thankfully no reported incidents of fire, personal injury, or property damage were reported. Owners will be able to wait for the retrofit to be sent to their homes after registering for it, but until then, it is recommended to play the Xbox 360 Wireless Racing Wheel by relying on battery power only. Hopefully the controller doesn’t spontaneously combust next.

Lightning GT burns into asphalt

Lightning GT burns into asphaltThe Lightning GT is no ordinary car - this is an electric car that takes approximately the same amount of time to charge up as it takes to fill up a gas tank. When fully juiced up, it will be able to travel a distance of 250 miles courtesy of Nanosafe technology that powers it. Underneath the hood, the Lightning GT’s will be able to generate a monstrous 700hp and accelerate from a standing stop to 60mph in less than four seconds (!) and has a top speed of 130mph, officially making this the fastest electric car at the moment. Since there is no engine involved, you will definitely save on servicing the car in the long run. Too bad you have to cough up $300,000 for one of these first.

Britz Rosetta 2.1 speakers

Britz Rosetta 2.1 speakersFancy a little something to spruce up your workspace? the Britz Rosetta speakers ought to do the trick without breaking the bank, although I wouldn’t place my money on it producing audiophile-pleasing sounds. Coming in a 2.1 configuration, you get a couple of satellite towers and a downward-firing amplified subwoofer. There is a cool red LED illumination throughout that makes it stand apart from other competitors in the same class, but that is only speaking from the terms of aesthetics. You get virtual surround sound technology (which is pretty ho-hum and will never measure up to the real thing) with the Britz Rosetta. You can pick up the entire set for approximately $90 after conversion from Korean Won. The only problem would be getting the rest of your pad to match it…

Plantronics Calisto Pro

Plantronics Calisto Pro

The Plantronics Calisto Pro brings about a trinity of Skype, home, and cell calls to consumers simply by taking a standard Bluetooth headset and throwing in a landline and Skype dialing. The base station comes with a USB connector that plays the bridge to your computer for Skype and Yahoo! calls, while a DECT 6.0 handset will be able to handle landline calls. As for the Bluetooth headset, it is a no brainer that it was meant to work with cellphones. In you’re on a tight budget working from home or want to start up an office with minimum cost, the Plantronics Calisto Pro is a safe bet when it is released this September for $279. More work certainly could be done with the base station’s design though.

Trutex uses GPS to track kids

Trutex uses GPS to track kidsAs a parent, you will probably worry about where your kids actually are all the time. Trutex could help alleviate some of that stress and worry by throwing in GPS tracking devices into its clothing range, making it nigh impossible for anyone wearing this to lie about where they have been while getting away with it. Which teenager would actually willingly wear one of these knowing that mom and dad are scrutinizing his/her every move? I suppose to get around this is pretty easy - just bring a change of clothes and jump into them after school, packing your GPS-enhanced uniform in the school locker.
