This is one you have to see to believe. This artist, Bill Fink, makes portraits of people - out of the people themselves. So instead of having Grandma’s ashes on the mantle you can hang her on the wall. The video shows how he’s created photo prints from ashes of the dead. Kind of cool but creepy. I’m guessing it’s similar to carbon printing used by many alternative process photographers. There’s another video on his site, FinkArtGallery.com, where it looks like he’s creating prints out of all kinds of different stuff.

Interactive Graffiti Billboard

Interactive Graffiti Billboard

Graffiti is often seen as an anti-establishment form of art, but it is nice to see technology do away with that conception. Mark Echo is currently working in digital citylights that make up of a huge LCD display and a Bluetooth interface, enabling passerby’s to put in their $0.02 by “spraying graffiti” using a Bluetooth enabled cellphone. It currently looks set to be available in Germany, with no word on whether it will be a feature in other major cities throughout the world. Great for leaving public messages, but that’s assuming everyone plays nice. Will there be any sort of moderators around to make sure no racial or discriminatory slurs are “sprayed”?

FCC gives nod to Nokia 6500

FCC gives nod to Nokia 6500

The FCC has just approved the Nokia 6500 slider handset, which means you can start saving up for one today. It will come with an impressive 3.2 megapixel camera featuring Carl Zeiss optics (just like the N73), with the addition of a TV-out jack (video calls on your TV are now possible!), a microSD memory card slot, Push-to-Talk, and a USB interface for data synchronization (and simultaneous charging when plugged in at last). The 2.2″ QVGA display is nothing much to write home about, but TV-out would be the main attraction of this slider. Heck, you can even check your email on-the-go with this baby thanks to the full fledged email client and IM application on the 6500. No idea on which carrier it will be available from though, but it will make an appearance this Q3 for €370…

LG T54 mini PMP stands out

LG’s Shine cellphones certainly made a statement as a fashion handset, and apparently the company will be bringing this touch of elegance to their T54 mini portable media players. Coming in tiny dimensions that measure 54.4mm x 92.6mm x 11.5mm, the LG T54 comes with a 2.4″ 260k color TFT LCD display and packs in compatibility with the most popular audio and video formats currently available. Just in case you run out of pre-loaded entertainment, there is always a DMB tuner to keep you occupied. Battery life is rated at 25 hours for audio, 5 hours for video, and an hour less whenever you tune into digital TV. Pricing details have yet to be released as at press time.

Razer unveils Lachesis at Leipzig

Razer unveils Lachesis at Leipzig

Razer has just expanded its stable of gaming mice with the announcement of Lachesis, a high precision 3G laser gaming mouse at Leipzig, Germany. It utilizes the revolutionary new Razer 3G Laser Sensor that brings true 4,000DPI and superior tracking speeds (maximum of 100 Inches Per Second) for the most precise gaming experience possible. Tracking also stops at a much lower lift-off level when compared to other laser sensors, doing away with tracking errors whenever the Razer Lachesis is lifted off the tracking surface. On-the-fly DPI switching also makes it simple for gamers to perform minor adjustments and tweaks during a game. The Razer Lachesis will be available in Phantom White and Banshee Blue, retailing for US$79.99 when it is released this October. More features are available after the jump.

Memlite USB flash drive

Memlite USB flash drive

The Memlite USB flash drive not only stores your digital data for you, it doubles up as a lighter. Available in varying capacities from 512MB to 4GB, I must say the Memlight USB flash drive isn’t exactly the most brightest of ideas - not especially when you have to carry around mission critical data with the risk of having it end up in a flaming fireball should something go wrong. The 512MB version retails for $40, and the price can go nowhere but upwards as memory capacity increases.
