Logitech announces V470 mouse

Logitech announces V470 mouseThe notebook toting fraternity definitely have far more peripherals to look forward to these days compared to a few years ago, and the Logitech V470 Cordless Laser Mouse is the latest to be announced. The V470 eschews RF in favor of Bluetooth connectivity, making it a snap to hook up to MacBook or Windows-based notebooks without the need for an external receiver. It uses Bluetooth 1.2 wireless technology and features laser tracking for a higher level of accuracy. There is a battery life of 4 months, but I personally find that the figure is probably closer to 70% if you plan on using your mouse for at least 8 hours every day. Features include Side-to-Side Scrolling and an indicator light. The Logitech V470 will retail for approximately $49.99 when it is released early next month.

Gakken Mechamo centipede robot

Gakken Mechamo centipede robot

The Gakken Mechamo centipede robot is guaranteed to freak your mom out should she stumble upon it by accident while clearing out your room. Measuring approximately a foot long, this battery guzzler (how can it not be when there are 32 legs moving simultaneously) moves just like a real centipede, save for the fact that it will probably annoy everyone else in the house (and your neighbors living downstairs if you’re at an apartment) to no end with the sound that it makes whenever it moves across the floor. Retailing for $99.95, the Mechamo centipede robot comes with a wireless remote control and will probably require a fair amount of gray matter to put it together.

RoboCrane game gets interesting

RoboCrane game gets interesting

After a couple of times, most people would wisen up to the fact that the odds are heavily stacked against you when it comes to crane games that we see at arcades. The RoboCrane from Japan is different since it offers a different style of playing. Users will have to steer a robot instead to win the prize that captured their eye, and this usually means more sweaty palms than ever. This RoboCrane concept is currently undergoing gameplay testing at Japanese arcades, so there is no guarantee that it will even end up Stateside in the forseeable future.

XtremeNotebooks will be the first off the blocks in the US to offer the new Intel Core 2 Quad processor in its Xtreme 917V notebook. Expect a whole slew of features in there such as RAID 0, 1 or 5, a dual video card setup, and the choice between triple Solid State or SATA 300 hard drives. Needless to say, such a monster of a notebook will definitely be a power guzzler, so make sure you always have a power outlet within the immediate vicinity. At least you’ll be able to handle all your specialized military, science, and engineering programs on the go without any worry of suffering from the lack of processing power. Asus unveils R600 GPS

Asus unveils R600 GPS

The R600 GPS from Asus was recently approved by the FCC, which means its release in the US is imminent. Targeting the mid-high range GPS market, the R600 comes with an integrated light sensor that will adjust the LCD backlight according to its surroundings to enhance viewing (while saving battery life when you’re outdoors). Other features include Bluetooth connectivity, a generous 4.3″ touchscreen display, and an SD memory card slot (up to 4GB). A 400MHz Samsung processor runs at the heart of things, aided by 64MB RAM and 128MB ROM. Pricing details are still unavailable, but it should be well worth the price considering the inclusion of the vaunted SiRFStar III GPS chipset.

Kicking Legs activated by sound

Kicking Legs activated by soundNow isn’t this a total hoot. The Sound Activated Kicking Legs simulates the image of a person (male judging by the pair of denims and working shoes) who has tripped over and tumbled headlong into a bin that is deeper than it looks. Both legs will automatically flail about to give everybody nearby a shock whenever a noise is detected. Great if you want to pull a prank on your mates, too bad April Fool’s Day for this year is over. It is currently sold out so you’ll have to wait for a restock if you want one.
