More word on Archos 105

More word on Archos 105The Archos 105 is one of the smallest fifth generation of portable media players from the company, and it will come packed with 2GB of internal memory. That amount is rather pitiful by today’s standards, but I suppose video lovers will overlook this in favor of something more expensive and with a larger storage capacity. WMV playback is supported, and the good news is it has been increased from 15fps all the way to 25fps. It would’ve been nice to see a memory card slot of some kind included, but I suppose we should be thankful that the $90 recommended retail price has not been changed. The Archos 105 has an official release date of 1st September 2007.

Samsung SMT-i8080 phone does video too

Samsung SMT-i8080 phone does video too

Samsung has just launched the SMT-i8080 phone that offers more than just voice calling. Hooking it up to a nearby Ethernet connection enables the phone to provide 2-way video calls via an integrated video camera and a flip-up LCD display. This works great if you have older folks in the home who have no idea how to run Skype or other video-enabled IM program. The navigation controls even enable the dwindling amount of landline owners to make online purchases from selected stores, stream audio, or even reserve movie tickets. The i8080 phone will be released in Hong Kong first, and Samsung might just bring it other markets in the US, Europe, and the rest of China sometime down the road. Pricing details depend on the service selected.

Paradigm Millenia 20 Trio speaker

Paradigm Millenia 20 Trio speaker

Crunchgear took Paradigm’s Millenia 20 Trio speaker out for a spin and were pretty impressed with it. What makes the Millenia 20 Trio so different is the combination of left, right, and center-channel speakers into a single cabinet. This bar-shaped speaker apparently does a pretty bang up job in fooling your ears into thinking that you’re actually listening to separate speakers instead. The Millenia 20 Trio would be suitable for small rooms and cramped apartments, but if you are blessed enough to own a reasonably sized home, then this $999 speaker is definitely out of the question if you want a great sounding audio solution for the living room.http://crunchgear.com/2007/08/14/paradigms-speakers-on-a-stick/

Shinco integrates PVR into LCD TV

Shinco integrates PVR into LCD TV

Shinco has devised a pretty interesting method that integrates PVR functionality into a LCD TV, but the only drawback would be the unit not having any form of storage for video at all. Perhaps that is why the LCD TV comes with a USB port that lets you hook up a storage device of your choice, along with a 2.5″ USB enclosure and a drive bay. There is no second tuner, so you can’t watch one channel while recording another with the 32″ RTV-3251 PVR TV, but the inclusion of its own decoder means this LCD TV works great with MPEG 4 video. Would you pick this up for the relatively affordable price of $805?

Meizu unveils mDock

Meizu unveils mDock

Meizu probably hopes that their line of PMPs will be able to expand the highly successful accessory market for the iPod, and kudos to them for trying with the mDock. The mDock will be released sometime next month and measures a rather svelte 207mm x 87mm x 86mm, weighing a mere 88 grams. It lacks nothing that general iPod docking stations have, including changeable dock adapters for interoperability between M6, M3, and other upcoming Meizu devices. No word on pricing though.

iPirate FM Transmitters from Stylz

iPirate FM Transmitters from StylzThe iPirate FM Transmitters from Stylz was specially designed to match the 2G iPod nano’s design, coming in pink, blue, black, and silver colors while retailing for £24.99 a pop. If you plan on grooving to your favorite tunes over your vehicle’s radio without going through the hassle of a wired connection, then this would make a very good candidate. It is compatible with virtually all iPods and saves the last used frequency for added functionality.

SNES runs Windows Vista

SNES runs Windows Vista

A Super Famicom (known as the SNES in the US) has been modded and stripped apart, having its video gaming innards disappear and replaced by computer parts within. The end result is a video game console shell that has enough processing power underneath the hood to run Windows Vista - and this can only be found in Japan. Pretty neat, no? I wonder whether they will come up with a Sega Genesis version sometime down the road.

Spiderman-inspired phone patent

Spiderman-inspired phone patentThis interesting phone patent enables the user to access and open their clamshell handset simply by pressing down on the inside of their palm using both middle and ring fingers, just like how Spiderman does whenever he wants to spin a web. Sounds interesting, but I don’t see how that’s going to add convenience to anyone’s life. After all, there isn’t anything better than taking the phone out of your pocket and with one cool, suave flip, open up the sleek clamshell handset in a flash. You wouldn’t want to look like Dick Tracy wearing your phone around your wrist at all times, do you? I suppose Matt Engarde from Phoenix Wright 2 fame would find this useful.

Nokia BL-5C battery woes

Do check the identification number of your battery with Matsushita just in case you fall under that category. Concerned customers will be able to request for a replacement if they are affected.
