MOTORAZR2 sees multi-carrier debut

MOTORAZR2 sees multi-carrier debut

Motorola’s MOTORAZR2 is more than ready to take North America by storm as major US wireless carriers such as Alltel, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile USA, US Cellular, and Verizon Wireless making it available in their lineup. The MOTORAZR2 is said to offer one of the sharpest mobile experiences available, and at least you can still stick to your favorite wireless carrier without having to jump ship. There will be three variants available - V9 (3G HSDPA), V9m (3G EVDO CDMA) and V8 (GSM), where all three will boast a larger internal display for full HTML browsing, haptic key technology on the external display, 2GB of internal memory, stereo Bluetooth connectivity, and a blazing fast user interface. Pricing depends on the plan you signed up for, but a ballpark figure would be around $300 including a 2-year contract.

Hasbro Tooth Tunes makes brushing fun

Hasbro Tooth Tunes makes brushing funGetting your kids to brush their teeth just before bedtime can be quite a challenging task (I admit even as an adult I find it difficult to brush my teeth at the end of the day due to my tiredness), but Hasbro hopes to ease your burden by introducing the Tooth Tunes toothbrushes. These devices will send sound vibrations from the bristles via the user’s teeth, enabling the brusher to actually hear this “streamed” music right inside their noggin’. While there are no buttons that increases the volume, all you need to do is increase the brushing pressure. Another reason for the sound clip to last a full two minutes is to ensure that proper brushing techniques and duration were adhered to. Pretty neat, eh? And I thought fruit-flavored toothpaste was the last bastion of childhood bribery when it came down to brushing one’s pearly whites.

Sneak peek at new Samsung phones

Sneak peek at new Samsung phonesLooks like the US will be receiving a couple of new Samsung handsets in the near future since they have just received a nod of approval by the FCC. The cellphones in question are the SCH-U700 Gleam and the SPH-A513. The former is a slim EV-DO clamshell handset that comes in gold for that added touch of elegance, featuring a small external display and touch controls for easy audio playback. As for the SPH-A513, this clamshell cellphone will be the first of its kind in Helio’s lineup and offers EV-DO compatibility and a 3 megapixel camera. While we know that the SCH-U700 will be available from Verizon Wireless, no further information concerning the SPH-A513 is available.

LV 2008 zooms into action

LV 2008 zooms into actionLooks like the LV 2008 handset (what a naming convention) from China comes with a feature that is missing from most camera phones - the ability to integrate an optical lens attachment for true optical zoom capability. I must say, should the image processor inside the LV 2008 be of sub-par standard, it doesn’t matter even if you can zoom right down to the pores on one’s face as the final result won’t be anything to shout about. Still, each $130 purchase comes with a 3x optical zoom lens to get you started. What do you want to shoot today?

Takara Tomy UMINE projector

Takara Tomy UMINE projectorHow do you normally wind down after a hard day’s work? Other than turn the telly on and settling down in your favorite couch, why not pick up the UMINE projector from Takara Tomy? This device doesn’t do movies, but it does play different “atmospheres” to suit your mood, ranging from the ocean to the sand combed beach or even a pristine forest. Great to take your mind off things with simulated natural surroundings. This concept would work even better with music, which is why it comes with the ability to connect to an audio player for an injection of soothing tunes. Standard batteries (not mentioned what kind) lasts up to 8 hours before requiring a replacement.

Hyper Dash for kids

Hyper Dash for kidsKeep your little ones occupied this summer with the Hyper Dash electronic game that consists of a “tagger” and five “targets”. These targets can be arranged in any space you can think of, and the tagger will call out a target while reading RFID tags in the targets whenever they are tagged. Choose from four different levels of play to introduce variety as well as cater for different age groups. If you have a bunch of active kids expending their energy the wrong way this summer by running across your flower bed, why not fork out $24.95 to pick up the Hyper Dash game?

Color Cube Speaker spruces up room

Color Cube Speaker spruces up roomOne glance at the Color Cube Speaker will probably send tingles down your spine if you’re a huge fan of Tetris or Rubik’s cube. Bear in mind that the presence of such colorful blocks is more of a visual exercise than anything else, and it certainly doesn’t add any value to its performance. There are a total of 48 colors in the fray displayed via 16 multi-color cubes in 4 color patterns. Should you finally settle on a color combination that actually blends in with the rest of your humble abode, there is the option to freeze those colors for good - at least until you get bored with it.

Audiorama from Grundig looks sweet

Audiorama from Grundig looks sweet

The Audiorama line of speakers from Grundig definitely look sweet, featuring a 360 degree sound field that can be hung from your ceiling or just left sitting on a stand, depending on your preference. I wouldn’t want to have these in a home where running kids who topple everything over stay, since they cost a considerable $820 each. The Audiorama speakers from Grundig is being re-released to celebrate the company’s centenary - who knew that designs from the 70s actually look good even until today? Now that’s what I call a classic piece of technology art.

iSlimCharger from Monster

iSlimCharger from MonsterMonster has just released an extremely small adapter known as the iSlimCharger that is used to charge the equally tiny iPod Shuffle. It is a one-piece device that doesn’t leave you grappling with pesky cables. All you need to do is hook up the standard 3.5mm headphone hack into the iPod, while the USB connector end is inserted into any available USB port and your Shuffle will be juiced up. At $14.95, this is definitely a nifty Shuffle accessory to have around since USB charging is definitely the way to go. Just take extra precautions not to lose track of it.
