Robot takes to traditional dance

August 10th, 2007

Robot takes to traditional danceSurely you can’t fault the world for thinking that robots are an everyday part of Japanese life, considering how the Japanese have managed to develop a robot who is capable of dancing according to the aizu-bandaisan style, which is actually a traditional Japanese dance. Since there is a prevalent fear that such a dance will die out in due time, the Japanese aims to transfer such knowledge over to a robot. They’d best make robots that procreate and are capable of making backup copies of this knowledge too, since humans aren’t too diligent when it comes to backing up either. Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction, and I wonder how much this robot costs to develop when the solution could be as easy as making a recording on video and uploading it to the Internet for the whole world to see.
